What would make my browser settings keep changing to Never Check For Newer Pages?

This must have happened to me eight or ten times this month.
I bring up the browser in the morning and realize it’s showing yesterday’s news.
I check the setting (which I always have put at the default, “Automatically”) and it has changed to Never. I reset Automatically and that sticks for a couple of days at most then the thing changes back.

Is that part of some recovery step? Like going to prior registry versions after an error?

This might be TOO obvious, but… are you clicking “apply” or “ok” after switching to “automatically”, rather than just closing the options window?

Yes. And I even try to lock it into my registry and shutting down the program and then the system. Power is off for a few hours and I will reboot and every change I put in is there. For a couple of days.
