What would make Trumps base supporters turn on him?

There you go; a Trump voter speaks up.

Drewder believes Trump did build a wall and Mexico paid for it. And Trump ended the Korean War and got North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons.

And how does drewder know Trump did this? Because Trump says he did it.

Does anyone still think there’s anything Trump could do that would make drewder turn on him?

An economic downturn. But that applies to any President.

Any appealing to his base alternative candidate republican or democrat. Exactly what that would entail I have no idea.

I am convinced that Trumps support will disappear overnight one day. Unfortunately I don’t know whether that will happen in 7 weeks or 7 years. His long record of lies and fumbling simply will not hold up over time. Right now it is all “part of the plan” of this super negotiator (for golf courses and hotels). When he starts signing deals and gets taken to the cleaners, people will start to question their support, but that will take a while. He is not sticking to any of his schedules and these negotiations will take a LONG time. What a surprise. His base is sure that he will be wildly successful if only the fake media would lay off him. Which is exactly what he planned and worked for. No one should underestimate this man.

That’s just it: He is American politics right now. He’s the friggin’ President; how much more “American politics” can he get? We want him to be “an alternative to American politics”. We want him to be an outsider. And for that, we have to get him back outside.

Do you really think…did you really just…I just can’t…whole-ee shit…wow.

Ah, uh, ahem.

When was that armistice signed, there, buddy?

The only thing I see that could cause a sizeable fracturing of his base is if he had a public familial falling out, the hub of which involved Donald Jr. and through which Junior became an ideological adversary.

His base is too committed to their choice to ever claim they were played. As countless cartoons have depicted, their last words as the apocalypse comes will still be “… but her emails.”

Trump’s political demise will come from the silent majority that is horrified by his behavior, not the rubes he conned.

I think when he gets caught on a hot mike talking about what suckers and rubes his base are, that would cost him. But not all.

It’s important to differentiate between “people who voted for him,” and his “base.”

Lots of people voted for him, but many of them are now appalled at the results.

His base are the people who still support him in spite of everything that has gone on since he took office.

I can’t imagine what would make them turn against him at this point. They will find a way to rationalize anything at this point.

Being shown to be financially bankrupt and starring in a pee pee tape.

Waiting for Mueller to prove it, but Trump Inc has been laundering money for the Russians for ages. Remember Mueller took on Exxon and has the best financial forensics folks on the planet working this. Seems pretty treasonous especially since Trump is Vlads little lap dog. Now that Chinese President Xi Jinping is playing the same thing with payoffs for ZTE to remain in business. And what about those middle easterners that are also playing at puppet master.

Probably not entirely wrong. Several studies of the election results have suggested that the overriding concern of Trump voters was not the economy but a fear of losing status or power; namely the whole “Oh, the cisgender white Christian male is the most oppressed person ever” thing. If Trump stopped appealing to the part of America terrified that they might one day be a minority or lose privilege or status, he’d likely lose his base in a hurry.

This is also why they don’t care about the hypocrisy or cheating on his wife or bumbling foreign policy or even negative effects from his policies. They’ll eat the negatives of an upper class/corporate tax cut if it means hearing less Spanish, not seeing Arabic, keeping transsexuals hidden, etc.

His appointing Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi to key posts within the government; and they accept.

+1

He starts cuddling up to the liberal intelligencia and dams rather than drains the swamp so as his base consider him as another of the “their” Dons rather than “our” Don.

Hey! Jophiel said no Arabic.

As others have pointed out, the only way Trump’s base turns on him is if becomes a liberal.
People don’t vote politicians into office because of personal conduct; they vote politicians in to do or be certain things they want them to be. Most voters, regardless of political stripe, would prefer a jerk who gets their agenda enacted, than a saint who promotes an agenda contrary to theirs.

I disagree. They would call him a genius for co-opting the dreaded Democrats.

They would only turn on him if he reverted to the Democratic Party.

I’m not a trump voter but I’m also not blinded by cognitive dissonance and hatred and can recognize accomplishments when I see them.

So you believe he got the wall built with funding from Mexico?

The Korean War is far from over.

Yes, much as breathing carbon monoxide is an alternative to breathing air.

A king was riding through a forest one day and started seeing all these trees that had targets painted on them. And in the bullseye of every target there was an arrow. There wasn’t a single arrow that had missed its bullseye.

The king said, “The greatest archer in my kingdom must live in this forest. Somebody find him and bring him to my place.”

So a few days later, the king was in his palace and a peasant was brought before him. The king asked him is he was the man who had shot all those arrows and the peasant said he was.

The king said, “You must tell me what your technique is so I can have all of my soldiers follow it.”

The peasant said “Well, I shoot a bunch of arrows into the forest. And then I walk around with a can of paint and wherever I find an arrow stuck in a tree, I paint a target around it.”

I think his base would disown him if he ever apologizes for anything.
