What would you call it?

I"m trying to buy myself something I can put in my entryway that has both a hook for my keys, and a dish for my wallett/phone/change. I need it to be wall mountable too. I can’t seem to find what I’m describing. I’ve looked for “change dish” “wall mount” key hook, but nothing is coming up! What would you call it? Thanks for the help, I’ve been looking for a couple days now.

Possibly a valet?

Try finding a coat rack/shelf. You can put stuff on the shelf and hang your coat.

Try looking for “hook rail”. That’ll at least get you in the ballpark.

Must you have hooks for your keys? If so, get a deep enough wall shelf and buy some cheap ceiling hooks to screw into the front of it. Viola.

We have a little entry cabinet with a basket for hubby’s keys, wallet, and phone. There’s a wall plaque with 4 coat hooks, a mirror, and two photos mounted on the wall above it. We use the coat hooks for hats, gloves, dog leashes, etc. since it’s right over the table and two feet from the closet.

I don’t have a name for it. I would suggest you look in places that carry arts and crafts. A booth where the seller does wooden crafts, signs, and furniture is a good place to check out and the person there may do requests. You could get a wall hanging cabinet with drawers and attach hooks yourself.

Although I agree with the idea of making what you need yourself, if you’d prefer to buy something premade I’d start with a search term of “key rack”.

Hall tree? Coat rack? Semipalmated plover?

Key Cabinet?

What the heck … spring for a 'cello.

FYI - I do that on purpose. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t have a name for you either I’m afraid.

I can tell you what I did to solve the same problem.

I found a wooden coat/hat stand to go next to my door. You know, big tall stick with a stand at the bottom and some hooks coming out the top.

Then I found a wooden bowl at the local charity shop, drilled a hole in the middle of the bottom of the bowl the same thickness as the central pole of the coatstand and painted the bowl the same colour as the coatstand.

Then I unscrewed the hooks on top of the coatstand to make room to slide the bowl down the central pole. Dirty jokes commenced.

I slid the bowl about two-thirds the way down, to the height my pockets are at when I walk in the door. I glued the bowl into place and let it set. Later, I fashioned some crude brackets to put on the bottom of the bowl, just to add sturdiness.

Then I repainted the pole as I scratched the paint sliding the bowl down. You do need to make the hole only minutely bigger than the pole. Otherwise it’s hard to fix it so it’s sturdy.
Put the hooks back on and I was done.

Coat/hatstand with a handy bowl at just the right height to deposit keys/change and sundry items when I get home.

Hey, my boyfriend was impressed!

Does that even make sense? I wish I had my camera, I’d just show you. I’m kind of hungover and probably not the best person to be trying to describe what I mean. Maybe someone will understand me anyway and rephrase sensibly.

Does it sound feasible? I know it means going and buying a hatstand (I was lucky enough to just find mine being thrown out from someone else’s house) but I imagine that will be easier than finding a specific product that does the same thing.

Ok, on re-read, I realise what I described was not wall mountable. Sorry, I’ll pay more attention next time.

Neither does it have a hook for your keys, although if your keys are not too heavy (like mine - so many keys!) you could always attach small hook to the pole as wel. above the bowl.
I’m-a-shut-up-now.

How about a wall-mount mail/key rack like the ones on this page? There’s room for wallet and stuff and hooks for your keys. A little searching along these lines should turn up something.
