I’ve changed my mind after listening to her speech last night. His offer should now be a sharp knife and a copy of Sepuku for Beginners.
What a cow! That woman is a disgrace to women.

That really is an important point. Women deserve to be represented by someone who has some connection to reality.
Well, one thing I wouldn’t offer her is a bucket of warm spit.
Taking the question literally, I would offer her the back of my hand.
Taking it as presumably intended (what would I do if I were in Obama’s position and had his level of class and political savvy), I’d probably offer some help with her campaign debts (no direct transfers to her funds; it would be clearly arranged so that I’d be the white knight (pardon the expression) paying the bad accounts of the businesses she stiffed).
I must really be missing something…why should anyone but hillary have to pay her campaign debts? Seriously, I don’t get that. If she can loan herself a few mil, she should be able to handle it.

Why do so many come out for her Lib? I really do not understand that. And I just pitted that fact.
Does anyone else think that her speech last night was a direct result of her asking him for the VP slot, and him turning her down?
That would explain both the failure to concede, and the indecisiveness on what to do next.
Apparently Mike Huckabee hired her for PR.

I don’t think there is any evidence that any conversation took place about the subject. I’m sure it will when she finally deigns to meet him, but I would be quite surprised if it has been discussed between the two before now.
Nevermind what a nightmare it would be to have her as vice president; can you imagine what a nightmare it would be to have Bill Clinton as the husband of the vice president? Every week he’d be making headlines with one ridiculous comment after another, the two of them would be unmanagable and impossible to keep on message.
My thoughts exactly. Hillary has so much baggage herself, but add Bill to the mix and it’s every president’s nightmare. She just can’t be part of his administration in any way, shape or form. SecState would be almost as bad. Let her run for governor of NY or something, if she still has enough credibility there to win.

Exactly. She’s playing poor little rich girl with this campaign debt thing. And if Obama uses donations to *his *campaign to pay down her debts, I could see that backfiring in a serious way.

Obama cannot use his campaign funds (or personal funds, if he had enough) to pay her campaign debts. That would violate just about ever campaign funding regulation there is. What he CAN do is fundraise for her, and encourage other Democratic officials to donate to her up to the limits.
for her husband (Bill)-who has been taking serious cash from all kinds of slimey characters (the dictator of Khzackstan, the Chines government, etc.).
Bill’s activities are just now coming to light!

Is there anything illegal about that? If it’s not illegal, why would he need a pardon.
In the interest of kindness and healing the damage done to the party he could offer a very nice position to Chelsea. I can has Clinton?
Were I Obama, I’d offer her a couple of big handfuls of DEEZ NUTS.
Then again, were I Obama, Hillary would’ve won in a landslide…

For the same reason that African-Americans did so when her campaign first began — they’ve regarded the Clintons as their champion for a long time. Remember that NOW never came out to defend the women Bill abused; and that was because of that bond. Fortunately, African-Americans were less forgiving when Bill decided to spit on them.
I saw nothing rude in her speech last night, but maybe I’d better brush up on my Judith Martin books. She is not obliged to concede the race, and she is entitled to have a vote on the convention floor if necessary. The only sense of entitlement I see here is Obama supporters who think that their candidate is entitled to everyone simply giving him everything. It’s a good thing that Obama is not so politically naive. Hillary was not going to make a spur of the moment decision last night. My prediction is that she will suspend her campaign on Thursday and endorse Obama, but it will be short of a concession, sort of what Huckabee did, and then it will be over. Apparently she wants to be VP, so take my predictions with a few grains of salt.
Obama has a lot of enthusiastic supporters, but millions fewer voted for him than Hillary. Obama needs those Hillary supporters, but Obama supporters are the chief obstacle to Hillary supporters working for Obama because the Obama supporters have been very insulting to Hillary.

Welcome to the board. When you come to Great Debates, you should have your facts straight. We don’t allow gratuitous claims to go unchallenged here. The popular vote in legally held primaries was 17,535,458 for Obama and 17,493,836 for Clinton.

That’s a good question, given her recent…antics. She’s got to suck it up, become a gracious loser, and throw her full support behind Obama. If she doesn’t, and Obama gets beat by McCain in a close election come November, she’s sealed her own fate. She’ll be branded as “the woman who helped McCain beat Obama” and her career in politics is over.
