What would you say the chances are of you ever falling in love again?

Inspiring thread, natch…

For me, it’s pretty much the same answer that I gave in the other thread-let Ms. Right come along, and it is a fait accompli, so 50/50 again we’ll say.

For those already in love, you can still do the "100%’ thing, if you like; you could say that you fall in love with your partner all over again each day.

Never say never again.

You never fall in love…

… until you do.

It’s not something you can control or plan for. When it happens, it happens. I also think it’s very difficult to fall OUT of love until you fall in love again. Then, suddenly, the old love is just gone. What seemed impossible happens without even thinking about it.

Nobody knows where love goes,
But when it’s gone, it’s gone, gone.

Just. Say. No.

Won’t matter, unless it’s returned.

There’s unrequited love. Love can happen even when it’s clearly not someone who’s Mr/Ms Right. Love can happen with someone who could be right if your paths weren’t taking you different directions. There’s the whirlwind of intense feeling that ends quickly. Close to 100% that I love again in my life. Call it maybe 25% that there’s love in a relationship that lasts for more than 4 years. Actively seeking that long term “happily every after” isn’t a priority for me so with all the other relationship challenges the odds are against it happening.

If I were to lose my spouse, I’m pretty confident I’d fall in love again.

Because I love life, and I like love, all around me. So I’m pretty sure I’d manifest a similar dynamic and find myself in love again.

100%. Every time I’m with my partner, I fall in love all over again.

0.00%

Not interested, not looking.

Again?

At age 57, I guess I’m resigned to probably never gonna happen. But I recently read that Barney Frank was 67 when he found his match. So there’s always hope!

Aw! That’s a darlin’ answer! I love you for it!

Yes and no? I see your point, of course, but… I fall in love all the time, in a shallow, foolish, consequence-free fashion. (I can’t find the quote, but there’s a bit in one of Alexei Panshin’s “Anthony Villiers” novels where Villiers sees a lovely woman in a public place and amuses himself by falling in love with her from afar. I do that all the time! I have a very nice doctor, and I fell in love with her the instant I met her.)

But I guess you’re right, because I’m never going to say anything to any of my objects of love.

It took many years and failed marriages before I got lucky and met SWMBO. She is truly the love of my life and if she dies before me, I’ll probably follow her very shortly afterwards.
