What'cha gonna buy me in the MMP?

And there’s dinner: 2 beef & cheddar burritos on low-carb tortillas. And a large bourbon and a couple of glasses of cabernet.

For some un-descernable reason, I’m feeling a bit fuzzy…

I wrapped and mailed #2 sister’s Christmas gift, went to the pharmacy, and got Part I of my shingles shot. It was a little ouchy, but not enough to warrant a sucker. I still think tiny piña coladas for adults would up the vaccination rate. There was a long wait, so I had to use my flashlight to walk home in the dark, but no problem.

I need to make a salad and figure out the rest of dinner. I also need to start laundry, which I forgot about earlier.

MetalMouse, thanks for the reminder. I need to get my will done. I have the medical power of attorney and living will done, but I need to do an actual will.

swampy, you’re my favorite swamp creature.

shoe, hope dinner was delish and yay, leftovers for tomorrow!

No Accidental Chinese tonight, so I made some Cioppino. And up, caffeinated, and sheveled and off to sort.

Didya leave all your CDs to Flytrap?

Fuzziness will commence in 20 hours. :tumbler_glass: :beers:

Fish&chips has been retrieved. I went with the pollock and prawn combo dinner, adding hushpuppies. DH went with calamari, adding crab cakes, battered mushrooms, and coleslaw.

Best I could do for a grocery delivery slot was Sunday (phooey), but there isn’t anything we need urgently enough that I want to pay the extra for express.

All the best sweeties are. The alternative is boring.

Glad to hear you got that first one in, still think you deserve a sucker, tiny ouchie pinch or not. Sorry you had a long wait though. By the time that second Shingrix is due (6 months) I hope the US is past the Covid vaccine crush and you can bypass the long wait. I guess you could try for the 2 month Shingrix interval Feb 11-hard to guess what pharmacies will be doing then. I am due for my 2nd, a bit overdue actually but the pharmacist said over 6 months isn’t a problem. I should take my own advice and get that 2nd shot in before the vaccinating chaos begins.

The best part of my day? Picking up from my public library a short stack of reserved books I’ve been waiting to read. Mystery novels of course.

Everybody, your dinners all sound so much better than mine. Must be time for me to heat up some cider and perhaps slip in a wee dram…or two.

I am neither.

I’m with you on the piña coladas for us grown ups when we get poked nellie. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s below freezing here, so could I get a hot toddy instead of a piña colada? Probably be summer here before anyone thinks I’m worthy, since I’m not old enough, sick or essential.

Decided to organize a few boxes of photos. It seems that not everybody has hundreds of photos from their first years. Guess I got lucky. My mom had saved all the cards they got when I was born. Many of the people I’ve never met, many have passed away. Interesting to read what my parents aunts and uncles wrote in the cards. Those I’m keeping. The others? Gone.

Speaking of cards, if I’m going to have a chance they will be seen by the recipients before 2021, I need to be getting that done.

And it looks like the chocolate place I plan to order from is not able to guarantee Christmas delivery. People are going anywhere, so if the chocolates are late, they are late.

Hugs for everybody, birthday wishes for OW and belated anniversary wishes for FCM. And a hope for a quiet corner for talky. This time of year is tough enough, with all the expectations of perfect holidays. This virus isn’t helping at all.

There’s blue sky outside, think I’ll go see if there’s a bright yellow ball in the sky. Haven’t seen it for a week.

Happy Saturday and stay safe!

Gotta get used to having the stove again - I forgot to refill it before I went to bed, so it was quite chilly when I got up. But the hopper is full and the fire is burning and life is good.

FCD and I will be working in the basement today, getting the shelves built so I can start moving crap off the free-standing shelves and on to the built-in ones. The lowest shelf will be 18" off the floor, leaving space for large plastic bins beneath. I’m also going to create a play area for Roxy (not in the closet) where she can color and paint and make a mess without worrying about carpet or furniture.

Till then, I’ve got some time to surf and read the morning funnies. And caffeinate. Must caffeinate!

Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 46 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 75 and mostly cloudy(ish) for the day. Not a whole lot goin’ on today. We may or may not venture out for N.O.L. I would much prefer to order and pickup. There’s also soup to be et up today and tomorrow.

Shoe glad you found your Dutch oven. A good, heavy Dutch oven is a must and with the sentimental value attached yours is even more so a must.

nellie hope the vaccine ouchie is better today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning all. Indoor Soccer starts about 10:30am and runs to 5pm, so I’ll have a pretty full day. At least it gets me out of the house… Rainy and 59F and not getting much warmer than that, so inside, either here or at the gym, is not a bad plan.

nellie, my 2nd Shingrix shot is due January 17th, and thanks to BBBoo for letting me know I can slip some on it…but I’ve got it posted on my wall, so I’ll probably go when I’m able.

OK, need to finish that one pesky Sudoku that stumped me last night… All y’all take care.

FCD had to run to Lowe’s for a box of screws - we have a lot that will work for securing the OSB to the framework, but not nearly enough for attaching the 2X4s to the walls. While he’s gone, I’ve emptied the dishwasher and I’ve got a load of shirts about to go into the dryer.

I’ve organized our work area - all the tools are in one place, the sawhorses are set up, and most of the floor is cleared of obstacles. We’re ready to rock when he gets home. I foresee clashes because if I question why he’s doing something, he takes it personally. We have the same conversations every time we do projects. It’s fun. Yeah, that’s the ticket… fun…

But we survived a major remodel when we bought this house, and multiple remodels o the basement here, and a major remodel on one house we had in FL, and numerous minor remodels, and goodness knows how much work on how many boats, so one closet full of shelves shouldn’t lead to bloodshed. Well except where I inevitably hurt myself, because I always do.

Don’cha wish we had a web cam going during this fiasco??

WOOHOO!! Looks like the package from Da Jungle that I thought got lost/stolen actually went from Baltimore to DC and is now out for delivery here, so I should get it today. YAY!!

It wasn’t a huge deal that it was missing - more of an annoyance, especially when I discovered I couldn’t get a replacement for one of the items till after the holidays. But it’s arriving today, so huzzah! And, of course, I asked FCD to stop after Lowe’s and pick up a replacement for one of the items… It won’t go to waste, but still. He left his phone here, too, so I can’t call and tell him to not bother.

Now, just waiting for my treadmill, last reported in Ohio in the wee hours of this morning, and a couple of toys for my great-nephew that supposedly will get here Weds. We shall see…

Good morning y’all!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, a load of towels and sheets ready for the dryer and jeans to go into the wash behind them. It’s raining today, so likely no dog park trip. I do need to run to Kroger for vegetation after getting sheveled.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Cold and rainy and gloomy here. We do need to venture forth this morning for one errand, then can hermit until Moanday. My Instant Pot is going to get a workout today, since I have several assorted varieties of ex-animal thawed and ready to become meals for the coming week.

Good morning from a weary, somewhat pathetic Nellie. Yes, I’m now referring to myself in third person. I mean, I’m now referring to her in third person. She’s now referring to herself–Crikey, this is complicated. How did Bob Dole do it?

Yesterday evening at about 6, my Under Construction tooth started hurting. I caved and took Tylenol. No improvement. Added numbing gel. Nada. So I had a rough night, and it’s been a miserable morning so far. My face is swollen. I texted the dentist this morning, and he said they’d get me in today. I don’t know who works there on Saturday. My usual dentist is one of the owners. Root canal dentist is young, so I assumed he was second string. Is there a third string? Maybe the cleaning lady and a pair of pliers?

My ex’s wife #3 (I was #2, but I tried harder. Old commercial, kids.) got sepsis from a tooth abscess. I keep thinking, I felt fine when I walked in that place. I’m hearing Twilight Zone music.

The guys upstairs have been fairly quiet, but yesterday was a humdinger: loud thumps and someone yelling cuss words and then one of them screamed, “GET OUT! GET OUT! GET OOOOOUUUUUUT!” I don’t think either one got out, but aside from a series of strange noises, it’s been calm, so hopefully they worked it out. Ten minutes later, my neighbors (shared kitchen wall) got into a loud argument. I was tempted to pick a fight with myself so I didn’t feel left out.

Mooooom, I should’ve known when you got the upstairs done, the basement would be next. Then I suppose it’ll be time to do the attic. No wonder you two need a cruise!

Dice, if you get a shot, you get a hot toddy. Maybe pharmacies should have full-time bartenders. “Yeah, I’ll have a Penicillin on the rocks with a daiquiri chaser.”

Dentist’s office just called. I have an 11 A.M. appointment. Normally I’d walk the 3.5 for exercise, but today I think I’ll get a ride.

{{{{ }}}} to all who need or want them.

With the exception of the shortcut my family and I took through Canada on the way from Niagara to Michigan, all my international travel was courtesy of Uncle Sam. I only remember going through customs three times – once in England, once in Italy, and once in the US – though it’s possible I did on two other occasions (Bahrain and the US); I just showed them a copy of my orders. All other arrivals, here or abroad, were aboard ship, and the most I ever had to do was fill out a form a day or two before arrival and hand it in to one of the officers.

I’m hearing a lot of talk about shingles and vaccines therefor the last few months, and don’t recall any mention of the vaccines before this year. Are they new?

Pork chops tonight. I’ll suggest apples and onions alongside, with mash and some sort of other veg in addition to the onions. Need to divide a large package of stew beef into smaller lots and get them into the fridge; other than that, no plans for the day.

Shelf installation is proceeding well - no arguments or bloodshed so far. Daughter and SIL came over to take more of their crap out of our garage. Meanwhile, we’re on lunch break.

I made Mrs. L.A. French-style tortillas and strawberry filling for breakfast, which she topped with Cool Whhhhip, and a couple of rashers of bacon

I had a two-egg omelette with taco meat, cheddar, and two bacon. Unfortunately, the problematic burner that behaved itself for the crepes, decided to run away when I put on the eggs. So the omelette was a little done. Still good, though.

The trailer was in the dock, the SLAW worked, and the noobs unloaded. then the belt broke on the 2nd shift. :grimacing: But I went to the Likker Sto for some Tullamore Dew, and the laundry is spinning now. And the room.

Nellie, hope the tooth is better. And dogbutler understands.
