What'd you have for dinner tonight?

Inspired by The Unkempt One’s spaghetti dinner thread and twickster’s do you like to cook? thread (wherein I graciously volunteered to sample others’ cooking, but have yet to get an offer), tell me what you’re making for dinner. Or breakfast, or lunch, depending.

See, I’m stuck at work, and will be for hours, so dinner will likely consist (again) of old coffee and antacids (I know – it’s horrifying even to type it). Because I believe that I will only be here for another half hour – hour tops – so why call out for dinner?

So make me jealous. Tell me what you had for dinner.

I’ve cooked up a bowl of Trader Joe’s French Onion Soup. It’s really good. I should eat it before it gets cold.

I’ve a salmon in the fridge. I was going to make Very Very Teriyaki salmon tonight, but I may just do it tomorrow.

Breaded veal cutlets, potatoes, seasoned green beans. Yum!

I’m at work until midnight.

so I had a can of spaghettio’s with sliced franks.

Yes, I ate that by choice.

Protein shake.

Suddenly, I feel better about the old coffee and antacids . . .

Broiled salmon over baby spinach with sliced tomato and capers with goat’s milk cheese in a lime-vinegarette dressing. Perhaps I’ll pick up some pine nuts and toast them, too. I haven’t decided whether to have it with a Guinness or crack open a bottle of pinot grigio. Opinions?

Stranger

Heh. A friend took me out to dinner, so I had Caesar salad; a nice, nice steak; yummy from-scratch garlic mashed potatoes; green beans (clearly fresh) almondine; and half a serving of apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream.

Much better than what I would have had at home, which would have been a tuna sandwich.

Okay, officially back to feeling pitiful.

Stranger: definitely the pinot grigio.

a big bowl of watermelon. I’m currently on the heartbreak diet. :frowning: Usually I eat better.

I reheated a leftover pork curry I made last nite. Served it over brown rice. A 2000 Bordeaux (St. Emillon) accompanied. The 24 hours was kind to the curry. The St. Emilion, not so much.

We had margaritas, nachos, and then chicken taquitos with guacamole and sour cream with refried beans and rice. There were a lot of sizzling fajita plates going through the crowd as well.

Spaghetti with pepperoni/pepper marinara sauce, served with a nice Australian Shiraz/Grenache blend.

Chicken breast with monteray jack cheese and homemade tomato sauce, mashed potatoes, and fresh green bean casserole.

Leftover apple cobbler, heated with vanilla ice cream, for dessert.

Nothing fancy to drink, however, diet pepsi with lime for Mr. Stasaeon, iced tea for me.

Last night’s leftovers: linguini with my favorite meat sauce. I made a spinach salad on the side, just water to drink, and frozen Jell-O cheesecake-flavored pudding for dessert.

Eye of Round roast, medium rare. Mashed potatoes and gravy. Multigrain bread (hot) with real butter. Mixed vegetables. Iced tea.

Rotini with hot Italian sausage (Glorioso’s - Milwaukee) simmered in canned red sauce and onions.

I think I might make the last sausage for later on tonight.

Dinner with my club tennis team. I had something called a Shanghai Steamer, which was steamed chicken, shrimp, and pork dumplings served with thai veggies and rice. Sure beats dorm food.

It’s Passover and I live on campus. Egg salad on matzoh and salad.

John made dinner - home made tomato, spinach, zucchini, chickpea, leek soup. He served it topped with fresh grated parmesan with hot, crusty whole wheat bread.

We have plenty for tomorrow night too!
