What's for breakfast?

Still just coffee. I might have a slice of banana-nut bread later.

Fage 2% yogurt, sliced sweetened fresh strawberries, and toasted buttered English muffins.

Now I’m all hungry for soft-boiled eggs. As a sign of RESISTANCE to TRUMP.

Bad egg.

How about an enormous sweet gourd cut in half and heaped with maybe a cup of sugar and an entire jar of jam?

Hmmm… “sweet gourd”? What exactly is that? Something like a melon?

Sometimes I make sausage and gravy on biscuits or eggos for husband. I usually eat one egg and fake sausage with English muffin.

I want an appetite for breakfast.

Bran flakes, Half ‘n’ Half, sliced banana, golden sugar. Spiced coffee with cream and brown sugar.

Freshly made buttermilk biscuits, homemade marionberry jam and scrambled eggs.

It’s Saturday, so in an hour or so I’ll be grating potatoes for hashbrowns, easy-over eggs, and bacon.

4 eggs and bacon

Inspired by the egg cup thread, I made soft-boiled eggs with buttered toast soldiers. Some sliced strawberries on the side.

If I had known sooner I would’ve been there!

Every Saturday. The Missus says it’s in the pre-nup, that I am required to make fresh hashbrowns every Saturday. I don’t recall there being a pre-nup, and I have never seen any such documentation or requirement, but I’ll take her word for it.

Mrs. LA sounds like a smart lady, I wish I had thought of that 20 some odd years ago .

Yesterday I went to my friend’s house in southern Wisconsin. She has pet chickens, but does not cook AT ALL. So she sent me home with a dozen free-range eggs. (Her chickens are quite free-range; during the day, they get to wander around the horse paddock.)

So today’s breakfast is cheesy polenta (with extra-sharp cheddar and aged Gouda), plus sautéed onions, mushrooms, basil from the garden, orange bell peppers, and a farm-fresh fried egg on top. Yum.

(She also gave me a bunch of raspberry bushes and ferns for my garden, and a blackberry, so I guess planting them is today’s project.)

It’s a win-win trade; she gives me plants and eggs, and I cook! I usually bring her home made bread when I go to her house, but I’ve gotten out of the swing of baking - I managed to kill the sourdough starter when we were out of town in February, and between that, prepping the condo for sale, packing, buying a house, moving, and unpacking, I haven’t quite managed to find the time. But I really should, because the oven at the new house is much more hardcore and doesn’t take half an hour to get to temp like the old one did.

Keep an eye on that one. Kudzu of the North, I tells ya. You can’t get rid of them.
