I’m hungry, cutting calories, and would rather think about food than get my work done right now.
Tonight we are having swordfish, wasabi mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Husband cooks the fish…I’m pretty sure he just coats it in sesame seeds and bastes it with hot olive oil. YUM!
Dinner last night was spaghettini with a red wine herb tomato sauce, italian sausage meatballs, sprinkled with fresh grated asiago and parsley, some lovely Portuguese multi grain buns and butter with a homemade gamay to wash it down.
FWIW, for mashed potatoes we add sea salt, pepper, plain greek yogurt, a dash of shredded old cheddar or gouda and a generous dollop of horseradish. Skins on.
Supper tonight is going to be rare reverse seared rib eyes, broiled baby potatoes with garlic, rosemary and olive oil, and grilled asparagus. Beverage will be either a nice pinot noir or Fowl Mouth extra strong bitter.
Not sure yet but I’m really in a mood for Tex-mex. Enchiladas sound proper at this moment but we’ll see what happens when I actually get into the kitchen.
Tonight will be grill-smoked buffalo chicken wings made with a mix of Srihacha and Pain 100%. Eyes will be watering, tongues will be numbed. Other than that, we’ll just be emptying out leftovers.
Supper last night was at a neighborhood pub, fish & chips with cole slaw. I may not have ever ordered anything else from there and no longer even look at the menu, it’s that good.
Tonite we’ll grill ribeyes and this weekend smoke a brisket and Boston butt that’ll provide meals for much of the week.
It’s Friday in Wisconsin so it can’t be anything but Friday night fish fry, which is pretty much mandatory at any bar that serves food here. Just need to choose between perch, bluegill or walleye. But there’s a 12 pound turkey going into a brine in a few hours that will spend a couple hours on my Weber with some hickory chips tomorrow.
Visitors arriving this afternoon. We’ll probably kill a bottle of Portuguese Douro before heading out for dinner at an Ethiopian place nearby. Supposed to be excellent.
Long overdue steaks on the grill, with sauteed broccoli and garlic and a Trader Joe’s pasta side. Life has been too miserable to eat much more than snacks the last few days. We’re miserable and defeated and need some damn food.
