I found the stuffing to be a little ‘fishy’, but the tail meat was good.
The filets were nice and tender.

Additional: I told Mrs. L.A. the stuffing was fishy-tasting, and that I was going to put lemon juice on mine. She did so as well, before she tasted it. It was better with the lemon juice. Mrs. L.A. (having lemoned hers) said it tasted fine.
We had BBQ chicken legs, Buffalo Chicken Dip, various chips & dips, peanut butter fudge, and baloney and cheese. Typical party food here.
Gehaktballen met jus, foeksandijvie, and rode kool met appeltjes.
Toku soup tonight! with mash potato croquettes.
Grilled burgers last night.
Sometime this week my husband wants to try to recreate a pork belly dish we had at a restaurant in Steamboat Springs. I think this might be it!
We don’t know what the hell we’re doing, but even mistakes taste good.
I’ve also made them with spinach instead of asparagus.
I won’t do crab, much as I like it, because when it comes to cooking with it, hubby likes surimi better than crab while I can’t stand surimi , as far as I’m concerned it’s only marginally edible. So if I make crab crepes I know he’ll say “we should have made these with surimi instead” :smack:
The stuffed lobsters look great. So the head cavity is filled with the fishy stuffing? I hope that our local TJs has them!
Tonight is leftover slow cooker nihari with basmati rice and a side of eggplant curry.
Recipes?
I had 2 slices of white bread, some leftover taco beef, and a little tomato sauce left over from meals last week, so I combined them all and had an “Open-faced Mexican Sloppy Joe.” It was pretty good, actually.
Sort of a yin-yang thing going tonight: 4 cheese tortellini, half with alfredo and half with marinara.
OK, today we got around to Japanese curry with shrimp. Man, does that stuff hit the spot!
I broke down a huge whole pork loin on the bone today. It would ordinarily be sliced into pork loin chops.
I took the boned chop portions, slow cooked them all day with onions, garlic, cider vinegar and wine. Refrigerated that and will complete 1/4th of the recipe tomorrow night for dinner with cream and Dijon mustard to serve over rice. I’ll freeze 3/4ths of the unfinished stew in single-sized containers to have other nights.
Cubed about 4 pounds of rib meat and simmered it with homemade refried beans, green salsa and enchilada sauce. Then I made a dozen pork burritos for more “fast food” dinners. (Including tonight.)
There’s still a whole small pork loin in the fridge. I’ll roast it on Wednesday with port and coffee sauce. Goes nicely with roasted potatoes and lots of vegetables.

Thanks, Allthegood.
The endive-and-potatoes look similar to colcannon, but with gravy.
I like the bit about not having butter, so it’s good if you’re watching your weight… And then it tells you how to make the salt pork-and-buttermilk gravy!
I don’t know why they call this stuff Hamburger Helper. It does fine all by itself, huh?
Last night I made coconut curry chicken, which was delicious as usual, and I had it again for lunch today.
I have some frozen tuna steaks; this thread made me think of serving them with polenta tonight.
Side dish recommendations?
Edited to add: I looked back to see eenerms served it with a fresh salad, so I think that’s what I will do!
Hamburger Helper is invaluable for dealing with picky pre-teens. At least mine; he gets on a roll where he loves something, then gets sick of it, and then decides he hates everything. Good old horrible Hamburger Helper breaks the cycle.
Corn dogs. No, not ‘mix the cornbread batter, skewer the hot dog, dip in the batter, and fry’ kind. The pre-made, pre-cooked ones from the freezer section.
I bought a couple of frozen tuna steaks from Trader Joe’s at the same time I bought those lobster tails. Just in case we want seared tuna anytime soon. ![]()
Chicken piccata with lemon caper sauce over linguini. May bake some bread.
Still have leftover pizza from the super bowl and I’m tired of it.
