I have to scramble a bit, as I can’t run my new microwave at night
it’s because the installer didn’t realize that the plug that he plugged it into is hooked up to a 15A line that includes my kitchen and living room lights - anyway, it’s a meatball sub and some leftover rice.
…and diced tomatoes.
So I have the only wife who loves beefy mac & cheese? I swear, when I first met her, she pretty much subsisted on Hamburger Helper, one of the classic flavors being cheeseburger macaroni.
Damn, now I’m in the mood for it.
No tomatoes. Tomatoes push beefy mac toward chili mac. (Which is fine, but I like beefy mac better.)
I skip the tomato, because then it would resemble Johnny Marzetti or Yankee Chop Suey or any of those clever regional names (my Mom called it beefaroni, because of the canned Chef Boy-Ar-Dee stuff and because she was not into Picturesque Speech).
Just ordinary homemade macaroni and cheese, with local orange cheddar, maybe a little fresh mozz and Parm, and the browned onion and hamburger stirred in before hitting the oven.
Yes! “Chili Mac” is another good ‘un! Picturesque name, I mean.
I like beefy mac and cheese, especially if the beef has taco seasoning added to it while browning. We only have it about once a year though.
Boxed Hamburger Helper, on the other hand, shall never ever pass my lips again.
Eggplant parmigiana with salad and a nice Chianti.
Tend to be good during the week and be indulgent at weekends…but after hefting an almighty shitload of massive logs into the van, building a woodshed then hefting all the logs back out again, we decided to do hot dogs, fry up a big mound of chips, and wash it all down with a few cold beers. Hardly sophisticated, but simple when ravenous, and sufficiently indulgent to feel like a reward!
Well, I scheduled my health assessment and biometric screening for three weeks from yesterday. I have a feeling dinners are going to be less interesting for a little while. (But I want that $100 gift card!
)
I sat on my butt all day in my cubicle and I am still thinking hot dogs would be good for tonight. :o
Last night was at a Vietnamese place in the neighborhood. They have a dish they call “pad ka-pow”, which is made with ground pork and a lot of sauteed vegetables, including eggplant. Tonight is likely a bowl of cereal and fruit.
I let the Ukulele Lady choose the menus for the week. It’s gonna be ugly here. Think kale and rice cakes, or meat cooked with fruit.
Meatloaf sandwich with homemade coleslaw, twice baked potatoes, and leftover chocolate cake.
I’m going over to ^^^^ place for dinner.
Mrs. L.A. made tostadas. We didn’t have any lettuce or tomatoes or anything, so they were just taco-seasoned ground beef, refried beans, cheese, sour cream, and salsa.
We had homemade pizza with crumbled hamburger, sausage and green peppers. The boys washed theirs down with lemonade I with hot strong coffee.
I made My homemade veggie/beef soup. I always add macaroni the 2nd day. We were eating the soup with corn bread and Mr.Wrekker asked me if there would be soup tomarrow, I said yes and puffed up a little awaiting the ‘compliments’ , nope, he said dont ruin it by putting macaroni in it. I nearly fell in the floor. I have been doing this same thing for over 20 years, he has never, ever said that. I tell you retirement (his) is gonna kill me yet. I am gonna bug him about every recipe or meal I fix now. Crazy, I tell you.
My soup was great, btw.
Oooh, I hate it when they do that, Beck!
Last night we had ground beef, cabbage, and tomatoes over rice. Looks like vomit but it’s tasty.
Tonight I think chicken pot pie with biscuits on top.
Close to mine.
Italian sausage, kalamata olives & shrimp sautéed with garlic in olive oil. Served over penne with feta.
