Let’s just say that if Trump walks, there will be riots in the street, and I will be part of them.
Who cares that a president who was obviously and blatantly criminal and corrupt faces justices for their actions? I care, and everyone else should too.
Nonsense.
Prosecuting someone for breaking the law is absolutely something that is necessary. If the president breaks the law, you lock them up. And Trump has absolutely broken the law. In fact, the fact that he’s in such a high position makes the need to force him to face punishments that much more extreme.
Bingo. I doubt anything will happen, but not throwing the book (or entire library) at that piece of shit gives other pieces of shit ideas.
We have to show that we will not stand for a criminal in the White House. We can’t prosecute him for being an imbecile, we can prosecute him for his crimes.
Why wouldn’t it? FTR, my brain is all about law and order applied evenly to rich as well as destitute; my heart is about justice & humanity–which means I look at things like theft and political corruption differently if they are perpetrated by someone in a position of power as opposed to someone looking for tomorrow’s next meal. I can have a civil discussion with you about that, but it’s its own thread.
Books and speaking tours. There are enough people who view him highly that he will be able to turn a lot of bucks out of the title; possibly enough for a strong boost to his personal economy.
Legally I think he will be chased but not caught. And depending on which Dem wins I could almost see a pardon to get the distraction that is the last four years behind us and over.
After he loses the election, he’ll want a library, but after burning his records and never having read any books, the only thing left to put in it would be tapes (what is it with Republicans and hotels and tapes) of his gleeful pronouncements of YOU’RE FIRED!"
The best for our country going forward is to prosecute criminals. Especially in cases like this. Do you want more crooks in the White House? That’s what will happen if we tolerate this crap.
And saying the only reason Trump is disliked is because Hillary didn’t win is the biggest load of Republican horse shit to ever come down the path.
That would require reading and critical thinking skills, and knowing the job qualifications for a president. At least half of Americans are too lazy for that.
Well if things look bad for him I would assume Trump would be welcome to go to and live in Russia protected by them from extradition. Would be a fitting end to Trump who has denied entry to the US for so many, even some of it’s own citizens.
My ideas about what will happen are mere speculation. My knowledge of what will not happen is iron clad and definite. Donald Trump will never write a book. Donald Trump will never read a book.
Investigations and prosecution effort will roll along for a few years and eventually run out the short time on Donald’s dementia clock. By the time he is ever forced to sit for a trial or deposition, he or his lawyers will play the dementia card and deem him incompetent to stand trial and not worth pursuing continuing legal action. He will freely retire in luxury.
Putin will have absolutely no use for Trump after he is out of office. None. He will laugh in Trump’s face if he so much as tries to curry favor with him.
Rioting in the streets has nothing to do with justice, and everything to do with wanting to feel better at the expense of ordinary people who have nothing to do with the criminals at the top. It is exactly the same type of “I want, fuck the consequences” behaviour that Trump and other elites are (rightly) being criticised for.
Yes, Trump should be tried and if found guilty punished. But if that doesn’t happen, letting it go will be better for your country than damaging it further.
I presume the rioting in the streets would have to do with the notion that Trump walking off laughing shows that we don’t have a justice system. It would essentially be a reaction to the demonstration that we live in a country where criminals rule, and thus there is no non-violence-based approach for altering the system into one that’s worth living in.
That said, it’s hard to picture a “riot” that I would want to see happening. A riot is defined by the fact that that in a riot people are attacking and destroying people and property. Probably not even the people or property responsible for the problem.
If he’s not so much as taken to court then our country is, arguably, less a country and more a criminal empire.
