It’s been a day to remember. The sprog’s school has a donut social every year for kids to have breakfast with their dads, or some other special person in their life. I volunteered for that. I did not eat any donuts.
I had training for Excel. So I get out of work for a day and learn valuable skills.
While I was in class, I got The Call!!! The job offer came through and I am starting on May 2nd. I can’t take leave until the end of July, but I don’t have anything scheduled until after that, anyway.
Moooooom, I should be able to attend your little soirée and I may able to bring a table.
Oh dear, please don’t call it a soirée - that implies I’ll bathe and stuff… A table would be appreciated, but not if it’s a bother. Your own lawn chair would help, tho. We have some chairs and benches, but if there’s a big crowd, things might get tight. Or very friendly. It’s anyone’s guess.
I just finished another small task, but the boss is missing again. Guess I’ll do some more training stuff.
Not currently, but when I owned my previous automobile I had a plastic emergency key(supplied by the dealer) for it in my wallet. It was flexible, but sturdy enough to open the door and trunk, and it also started the car. Had to be real careful not to snap it, and it did come in handy several times. Still keep it as a talisman for my new car.
Howdy Y’all! Miss me this mornin’? I had to be somewhere earlier than usual this mornin’ so I didn’t post. FWIW ‘tis 71 Amurrkin out with the sun peakin’ through. This was supposed to be a rainy day but instead it’s been a more misty day.
Sari yay on the ipad!
Rockin’ yay on the new gig!
Dindin shall be sammiches. I got some deli stuff and bread from the deli. I shall also bake up some oven fries. OYKW has a meetin’ tonight, poor thing, so he’ll have to eat and go.
Sammich and fries have been consumed. OYKW is off to his meetin’. He’s stayin’ at his place tonight so I am sans adult supervision. I might go wild and make some popcorn later.
I’ve said this before but on the serious side I very much want a traditional burial. I want to leave something behind even if it is just for the aliens or future archeologists to unearth a thousand years from now. My one big regret, and I mean MAJOR LEAGUE, is that I am so far following in the family footsteps and not gotten the site picked out and bought yet. Herself just will not go along with me and pull the pin on picking out the plot even though she basically wants the same thing.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 75 and rain this afternoon, tonight, and tomorrow. We shall see. I get to head to the east forty this mornin’ so I can slack a little bit before leavin as it’s easier to head out from da cave.
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence.
I went on a training session yesterday morning…when I came back someone asked me how it went, I told them it went as well as can be expected when the trainer is a coked-up chipmunk.
Last night I went to my first spin class in the gym for five weeks, I was definitey having trouble keeping up in the last 10 mins but survived better than I’d expected. I am not aching too much today either but I suspect that will catch up with me tomorrow.
Lovely spring day out there today - sunny and just warm enough to not require a winter coat any more. Naturally the forecast is for showers…well, it is April after all.
Conga-rats on the new gig, Rockin! And of course, conga-rats to sari on the winnings, although it’s an i-thingie so it’s as much of a pain as a pleasure.
Da Spanish gummit is possessed by the spirit of the Marx Bros, but they’re apparently having a not very funny day. I need to do something with Social Security which according to their webpage can be done through it (with the same certificate I use to pay taxes) or in person. The webpage didn’t like the cert (Treasury is happy with it, so the cert itself is ok), so I filled up the form and took it to SS. I was told I had to do it myself via the website, and they gave me a PIN to do so.
So I had to go to SS in person to get the PIN so I can use the internet. Perfectly logical. To help paint Groucho’s mustache, the task itself isn’t available yet (computers belonging to different government branches need to talk to each other) and the PIN is temporary; if I can’t get the task done before it expires I’ll have to go back to SS in person to get another PIN.
Perfectly logical.
My grave is paid for (family mausoleum, owned in perpetuity) and so far I’m being good and haven’t prepared a list of songs for the funeral including selections from Celtic Punk. So far.
Nava, nice to hear that other governments in the world can screw up just like the good old US of A.
I am suffering withdrawal…they stopped selling Oscar Meyer brausweiger, my favorite lunchmeat for the last 55+ years, around here last year, so I brought back a big stash from the St. Louis area during Thanksgiving and New Years, which just ran out. Nearest stores that carry it are in Kentucky (yeah Food Lion) so I’ll need a full day to carry out this critical re-supply mission, but between soccer refereeing, work, and other stuff and things, I probably can’t do the foraging until early May. So I am having to make do with bologna sammichs and eating out. Pity me…
Rain tonight, rain tomorrow, but at least it’s around 70F. Blurf.
Rockin’, great news on the job.
Boo fairy, I think I’ve had that same trainer…
My will says to harvest any organs that can be used, cremate the rest, and scatter the ashes on my parents’ grave.
I’ve always wanted a Viking funeral ,with an open bar. With my family and friends, free beer, fire, and corpse desecration would ensure a large turnout.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m off today, and it’s not raining, so Gordie can have a long walk today.
Nava, here it’s online payments. Why would a government make it difficult to take my money.:dubious:
