Usually I wait until a DVD is on sale before I pick it up, but there have been so many good DVDs released or anounced that my credit card is taking a beating. Just in the last week, I bought Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Seasons One and Two, Victor/Victoria, (the 1982 movie, not the crappy B’Way show), Lord of Illusions (only 10 bucks at Borders), and Sweeney Todd in Concert (by way of consolation for missing out on the Kennedy Center production that’s playing as part of the Sondheim festival here in DC).
I also plan to buy 1776 and George Cukor’s The Women when they are released on July 2.
In August I’m buying

Monsters Inc.
And definately the new version of Cinema Paradisio. I lie to bbbbbuy Italian movies for my grandmother. She hasn’t heard nor spoken the language since her father died in 45.
I’m waiting for Raiders of the Lost Ark.
And one more ootbay eglay DVD. Although I may jus end up snagging the VHS of Song of the South.
Add me to the ** Pulp Fiction ** list… (Is Tarantino ever going to do anything else ever again? jackie brown was ok…but c’mon!)
I’ve also heard tell of SE’s of ** “Office Space” ** and ** “Robocop” ** , both of which would be on my list. My honey just looks at me like I’m crazy when I tell him how much I loved “Robocop”, but it was a fabulous popcorn movie! Incredibly funny, wonderful action, and a bittersweet tale of a man who has the extraordinary experience of * avenging his own murder! * Can ya beat that???
I’m also thinking about picking up ** Notting Hill ** because I really do love that movie, silly as it is.
DVDs that are available right now, but will have to wait until my unemployment woes are over:
The entire Blackadder series. Real Genius – not quite out yet, but almost there Monty Python and the Holy Grail – Criterion Collection
the Ken Burns documentary on Mark Twain Gandhi Lawrence of Arabia Toy Story and Toy Story II
The Transformers season 1 box set, just to maintain my Transformers street cred.
And as painful as it will be, I’m going to hold off and wait for the inevitable Special Edition of Monsters Inc. – at least now I have the Special Edition of A Bug’s Life to tide me over…
