What's Rosie's problem?

I think you touched on it. Meredith was the NICE one. She’d have her opinions, but as the leader of the group, she always kept herself a bit apart from the yickity-yack usually created by Joy and Star. Now Rosie is not only the leader, doing a lot of the talking, but also the main yickity-yack generator. It’s a weird thing because we’re used to others doing this. Last time I caught the show, Joy was pretty much mute the whole time.

It seems to me that Meredith was more of a moderator, whereas Rosie is more of a participant. Also, let’s face it, Rosie is just more provocative than Meredith. It’s her job as a comedian to say controversial things–and you can get away with this if it’s your show. But it’s not Rosie’s show. I think Rosie’s still trying to strike a balance between what’s she used to doing and what’s she’s expected to do. Viewers are also having to do some adjusting.

All that said, even though I don’t care for Rosie as an entertainer (and I hate her cattiness regarding Star), I think the hoopla over her remarks have been overblown. The Trump looked far more jerkier than she did, and Paula Abdul ain’t some sacred lamb that can’t be discussed. I just think Rosie needs to find a better way to talk about people so that it suits the daytime TV crowd’s sensibilities. That’s her job.

The same “daytime TV crowd” that was exposed to Paula Abdul’s obviously drunken rant on every morning news show across the country?

I’m no fan of The View , and don’t care as much for Rosie as I used to, but she was right on target! While Mrs. Know and I were watching AI, we commented to each other about what was really in Paula’s cup! I don’t see any over-reaction, though. I think most people agreed with Rosie (at least most people I’ve spoken to.)

And, personally, I’d rather listen to Rosie rant than Joy Behar any day!

I don’t give a crap about Rosie, Kelly, The Donald, or whoever, but, I have to ask. Is Kelly Ripa homophobic? What is the evidence? And if she is, shouldn’t she get her shit called out about it? Rosie is gay, so I can see why she would have a problem with it.

As for Trump, well, he is being a giant hypocrite to talk about other people being immoral, isn’t he? Kind of a giant scumbag enforcing moral standards on other. How is Rosie being a giant bitch by pointing out this fact?

If Paula Abdul has a drug problem and it’s so obvious that everyone knows, is it wrong for Rosie to say something?

I guess what I’m asking is, is what Rosie’s saying factually incorrect? Or are people saying it’s wrong to say stuff about these topics? Or is it how she’s saying it that people object to? Just wondering. Not defending Rosie per se.

That’s a very, very weird show. I was at my sisters house helping her make curtains and she likes this show and had it on.

This was an episode where Elizabeth disagreed with Barbara about politics or something. Did anyone see that? Anyway, Elizabeth got a little bit huffy with Babs and she told her to calm down. After the commercial, Elizabeth was practically sitting on Barbara’s lap CRYING!!!

Seriously! What grown woman on TV sits on another woman’s lap and cries because they disagreed with each other? It was the most bizarre thing I ever saw. After that, you’d have to tie me to a chair to get me to watch that show.

I personally didn’t think anything she’s said was that bad. That skinny little Kelly girl is annoying. So is The Donald. And Paula needs to get to a rehab stat. Do a lot of people even watch this show that it matters? Barbara Walters must be laughing all the way to the bank because ratings are through the roof.

The “Kelly Ripa is a homophobe” thing arose from when Clay Aiken was co-hosting “Live with Regis and Kelly” and covered Kelly’s mouth with his hand during an interview. She took offense at him touching her unexpectedly like that and reacted accordingly.

Rosie jumped to conclusions and felt free to criticize Kelly for her obvious homophobia, because it Clay were straight she wouldn’t have gotten upset about it.

Clay and Kelly, so far as I know, have joked about it, but Rosie…

Rosie made a pretty broad assumption, levied a rather serious and public accusation against Kelly and was a bitch about it. Screw her.

Trump is the one who’s being a mean-spirited ass. Rosie seems (to me) more amused than angry at his continuing idiocy.

I don’t watch it, but I do listen at work on my radio. I think Rosie has a serious problem with depression or is bipolar, sez Dr. singular. These feuds are taking their toll on her, and it is evident in her voice. I think she’s tired of the fights she’s started, but she can’t just quit and go home. Having said that, she’s a judgemental, mean-spirited, petty hypocrytical bitch, and brings all of her misery on herself. Your kid brings you beer because you sound depressed? Good parenting there.

But a couple of days later Rosie didn’t have any problem doing a bad/offensive Chinese “accent”. You can’t have it both ways.

The problem is the context. She was complaining that AI has been reduced to making fun of people’s problems and defects. In the same breath she makes fun of Paula Abdul for having a substance problem. She complained about the state of American culture if that is what we consider entertainment then uses the same tactic on her show against someone else.

I think Rosie’s just about the only person on TV without a problem.

She’s probably TOO brash about it, but I really admire her being on TV and poking holes in the whole culture of celebrity worship that currently exists around personalities like Ripa, Trump, Paris, all that shit that sells People magazine and Entertainment Tonight.

These people are fucking buffoons. I don’t even care if Rosie is wrong, or unapologetic about it. The current status of pop culture is SO SKEWED in the other direction, it takes a little sand.

There’s a nice clip of her getting into it with Babs Walters one day. . .calling Babs out for being superwealthy, having Picassos on the walls, going to some party with Kissinger. Walters was getting real upset. Nice.

Not to mention the (maybe not so broad) assumption that Clay is gay. For someone who is gay, you’d think she would at least want to respect his privacy and not “out” him by saying what Kelly did was homophobic. He has been avoiding the questions about his sexuality and then she steps in and throws fuel on the rumor fire. Nice, eh?

Like you said, if he were presumed to be straight, she would never thought anything of the comment.

I mean she would never have thought anything of Kelly’s reaction to Clay’s hand over her mouth.

Ratings have shot up over 10% since she arrived.

It was because Kelly made the comment, “Well, who knows where his hands have been!”

Which is, of course, a very old saying, usually meaning he might have used the bathroom without washing his hands, or something like that, right?

Plus, Clay has not come out, as far as I know, so it was pretty presumptious of Rosie to make that remark.

I can’t stand her. I heard that she forced her partner to stop breastfeeding their child because, SHE, Rosie, felt left out.

She’s an insecure hypocrite.

I feel the same way. Nothing wrong with getting into someone’s face every once in awhile. Right or wrong, I think it’s sort of funny because they’re all a bunch of phonies. She’s just saying in public what most people have said anyway.

Is there anyone on the planet besides two of Clay’s fans that don’t know he’s gay? So what? I loved someone putting their hand over Kelly’s mouth. It should happen more often. There isn’t anyone that loves herself more than she does. If I hear Kelly say she looks fat one more time I might drive to the studio and put my hand over her mouth.

So what? How about the fact that he’s apparently not ready to come out and she didn’t respect that. As a gay woman, shouldn’t she be a little more sensitive to that?

On this, we agree.

Did he care? I thought they were friends.

Here’s a typical example of why I do love to see celebs put in their place from time to time.
This isn’t the first time I read about celebs doing this stuff. How self-involved do you have to be to have it in your contract that people can’t look at you or talk to you? They all do stuff like this.

So yea, I love when someone is honest and calls them on it. I wish she’d talk about this stuff everyday and I might start watching the show.

$57K to refinish kitchen cabinets? I could redo my entire kitchen and install a bathroom for less than that.

I saw a clip of Kathy Griffin recently on YouTube. She said her gay friends’ first reaction was that Ripa’s remark was homophobic, but with a bit of reflection decided maybe not.

A wealthy person calling out a wealthier person for being wealthier? I don’t give a shit about either one of them, but I wouldn’t call it “nice”.

Rosie’s against guns, but her bodyguard carried (carries) one.

Hmm, is there a pattern here?
