probably not an exact quote, as it’s been years since I’ve seen it, but I love the song they did after the movie said that Gamara is a friend of children. :dubious:
The worst or best episode, depending on your viewpoint was the Japanese monster movies starring Gamera. Forever in my brain resides that ditty which I will place, for mercy’s sake in a spoiler box.
Gamera is really neat!
He is made of turle meat!
From #423 - The Day the Earth Froze comes this exchange between Dr. F and TV’s Frank. Dr. F took all of Frank’s money and invested it in “Unhappy Meals” without getting a buyer first. Frank gets increasingly upset as Dr. F threatens him to calm down and push the button:
Dr. F: “Push the button, Frank”
TVsF: “No, I want my money back.”
Dr. F: “Forceps, Frank! Pain!”
TVsF: “I don’t care. I want my money!”
Dr. F: “Electroshock, Frank!!”
TVsF: “NO! NO!”
Dr. F:" PUSH THE BUTTON! PUSH THE BUTTON!!"
TVsF: “NO ! NO!”
Dr. F: “THE BOX, FRANK!”
TVsF (in a kind sweet voice): “Pushing the button!”
The short was “Here Comes the Circus” (which features several inexplicable shots of Emmett Kelly eating):
Crow: “Heeeeeeeere comes the Devil!”
Tom: “Hey, it’s Beezlebub the Clown!”
Crow: “Now make way for the Ku Klux Klowns!”
Crow: “It’s Ezekiel, the Amish clown. Ha ha, no buttons!”
Tom: “Oh no! They’re doing it clown style!!”
Tom: “Fellows, this is just wrong.”
Joel: “A rogue elephant snaps its tether and kills a Coolie.”
Bots: “Oh, now who’s getting dark?”
By the way, my DVDs say “Shorts, Vol. 1” on the front. On the side, where I looked last night, it says “Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection Volume 2.” Hence the confusion - I wrote Volume One at first and then changed it. This could’ve been more clear. :smack:
I’ve seen 7 episodes so far, 3 because of the thread, 2 I got before I started it and 1 that had Dinosaur in the title and had to be downloaded). All the suggestions are making my decisions so much easier about what to waste my precious precious gigs on.
I have to say so far that the best movie I’d see without the MST3K treatment, heck the only one, is King Dinosaur. The jokes write themselves! From the inappropriate stock footage to the Tyrannosaurus Rex that is actually an Iguana with a fin glued on to the inexplicable decision to nuke the planet to the hilariously over the top 50’s style sexism… it’s just too unintentionally funny!
I originally saw Overdrawn at the Memory Bank in 1983 when I was home sick with the flu and couldn’t get to sleep. I remembered being VERY bored by it back then and only watching it because there was nothing on and I was too weak to hold a book. Had it not been for the fact that I had already counted the ceiling tiles in my bedroom, I’d wouldn’t have watched it.
I watched Laserblast a couple of days ago, and I have to say it may be one of the funniest I’ve seen. I think that honor still goes to Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell - so, so incredibly cheezy. Or maybe it’s Warrior of the Lost World, featuring Persis Kambhatta and… uh… the Paper Chase guy.
A word of caution, however, for those of you downloading movies from BitTorrent or KaZaA or whatever you use. Things may not always be what they seem. San Francisco International turned out all right, and Laserblast was funny, but I just finished downloading what was supposed to be Hercules Unchained… I started closing other applications so I could watch it when, all of a sudden, there was this odd moaning coming from my speakers. It seems instead of Joel and the Bots I have Bring 'Um [sic] Young #1. Decidedly cheezy, I’m sure, but I don’t think this one ever got MST3K’d.
As much as I love MST there are quite a few I’ve not seen; thanks to this thread I watched Last Sacrifice earlier tonight and laughed my ass off.
I have a very soft spot for Cave Dwellers, as when I watched it with my dad way back when I ended up on the floor laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe at one particular point. It’s a favorite memory of mine.
I have no idea why I like Fire Maidens as much as I do; the movie itself is boring as hell. They must have just been really on, writing-wise, that week. And the fight in the theater is awesome.
