Napser, Audiogalaxy, Songspy, old school FTP, the list goes on.
What piece of software represnets the best way to stick it to the recording industry?
Napster’s cool, but now with all the court stuff, they’ve got filters on the well known stuff…
Kinda mad she can’t get Steve Miller Band’s Serenade…grr…
If you guys can help me find another music thingy and a website for it, I’d appreciate it…
realizes she kinda hijacked the OP :o
WinMX you can download it from the free downloads section at http://www.cnet.com
Hmm… Audiogalaxy, huh? Haven’t tried that one yet. Thanks for the link socpro.
I was sort of using Gnutella and Imesh for awhile, but could never get good results. Extremely slow downloads, trouble connecting, etc. Then someone pointed out WinMX, and I’ve been using it ever since. Not sure about the details, but I think, and someone please correct me if I’m wrong, it connects you to the old Napster system. Ever since I’ve been using WinMX, I’ve had no trouble finding MP3s for anything I could think of.
Lemme dig up a link…
Also, it’s not limited to MP3. You can download other file types, so it not only replaced Napster for me, it also replaced Scour (R.I.P.).
Last time I posted this type of thing the topic was censored and locked. Anyway, I use KaZaA now. I like it a lot.
"stick it to the recording industry’…?
You know, Astro, there are many hard working musicians in that music industry who don’t have much cash and don’t like having it “stuck to them.”
I use BearShare:D
BTW, you wouldn’t happen to be a fan of Man… or Astro-Man by chance?
Um, I hate to be the party-pooper, but I figured I’d let you know that the administration here doesn’t exactly like threads on this topic. I figure it’ll just piss them off more if they have to edit more from this thread. Well, just don’t say I didn’t warn ya.
Yep. These threads tend to get locked pretty quick-like.
