I heard someone mention Gnutella. I went to their site and learned there were several client programs for Windows to choose from:

I am using a PITA(pain in the arse) 56k modem and don’t have the time to download and test each of them. I tried Bear Share and found it to have very few of the options and characteristics that Napster had. Why doesn’t somebody just make a program that looks and behaves JUST LIKE NAPSTER? That’s what everyone secretly wants anyway.
Which one is the least problematic and the most like Napster? I was really comfortable with Napster and am highly resistant to change.
Bah. All you Napster weenies make me want to defecate. Why, in my day, when only the elite few knew about Mp3’s (the rest of humanity was stuck with MIDI), we had to HUNT for the Mp3’s ourselves! That’s right… we had to wade through porn sites, crappy little “I’m eight years old and this is what my poop looks like” sites, warez sites, and 404’s by the dozens. Bad links, hundreds of pop-up ads that just led to more pop-up ads… it was a friggin’ JUNGLE, Junior!
But I got through it. I survived. I managed to snag hundreds of excellent Mp3’s (including the entire soundtrack to Final Fantasy 3 and Chronotrigger). And I did all this on a 28.8 Internet connection!
Nowadays, y’all have no guts, no gumption. A pale representation of the glory days of the Mp3. A sad mockery of how things once were. You say you’re resistant to change, pal? I have NEVER used Napster, or anything like it! And I get by ju-u-u-u-ust fine… every single time I go out a-hunting the 'Net for what I want, I find it, guaran-damn-teed.
THERE’S your “good alternative” to Napster. Make of it what you will.

i’d reccomend winMX, but i dont want to get banned. so, i am not going to tell you the site. however, i will tell you that it won’t show up on a search for winMX, so don’t try it. (just covering my bases.)
i say two more posts before a mod makes this thread very dead.
just to let you know- the mods and administrators do not like things of questionable legality. so no drug threads* and no filesharing threads.

The only thing I can suggest without getting deleted is … I know this will sound wierd…you can buy music, pre-packaged in CD form!
Of course $17.99 is a bit too much, but there are many alternatives to retail record shopping- look online. I just think downloading music is a pain in the ass anyway, and besides -you never know what your computer might catch sharing files. Its as if your hard drive is having unprotected sex with stranger hard drives. I’m not trying to be a smart aleck, just being cautious…
What I meant is… all the mods are sawin’ logs, dreamin’ of frogs and polywogs. Just wait until all awake, brush their teeth and masturbate. Read this thread and send it away, while I wonder exactly what it is they will say. Maybe just a quick one liner, or maybe include a small reminder, that threads about file sharing are a dastardly deed, and lock for eternity they forever shall be.
