Since I don’t expect to get anything off of NAPSTER anymore, any suggestions on which of the myriad of options I might use?? What are using, and why? Will my mp3’s I got off of NAPSTER still work with one of them?
I’m using LINK DELETED. It doesn’t have a built-in player (if you want to listen to your collection, you can click on the mp3 in your “files shared” folder in the program, and it’ll pop up in RealPlayer, WinMedia or whatever your system’s mp3 player is), but it’s a nice run of the Gnutella network that lets you run multiple searches at once, and you can also search for programs, images, or anything - not just audio, you get to pick.

I use LINK DELETED. It works very fast and has all the features I want like a bit rate before I download, it also resumes and picks the fastest download for you.

I’ve used LINK DELETED a few times, and it works OK. Not as quick as Napster, though.

I’ve been using LINK DELETED. Works pretty well; major drawback is that you have to wait your turn to download from other users. I’ll keep using it till AOL shuts it down for copyright infringement.

I’ve kinda been using LINK DELETED. It’s decent, but doesn’t have nearly the amount of songs you could find on Napster, especially the rare/out of print/vinyl-only stuff. Still, it’s easy to use, and is kinda like Gnutella in that you can d/l not just mp3s but video, software, etc.

1st I want to say that I never used any of these services.
Now I just want to warn LINK DELETED and any other users of LINK DELETED that the program installs spyware that has nothing to do with the program. There is NO option to not install that portion and no removal procedures. Manual removal attempts has resulted in Windows having errors. you can read some reviews by users here:

And another supporting doc here:
(I got to find out how to turn those into actual links)
I’m not saying not to use it, just informing you.

I use LINK DELETED. The connections are not as good, but it uses the same software. Its basically Napster with different, often offshore, servers.

I use LINK DELETED, and I have removed the spyware (webhancer, I believe it’s called). I removed it with a nifty little program called AdAware. And after the removal, LINK DELETED works fine, with no errors in it, or Windows.
Personally, I love LINK DELETED.
