They had a village fair in town today, and were making fresh fried cake donuts. Not those whispy krispy kreme style. They were so good that I got a little carried away and bought a dozen, and now I have way too many donuts. I’d like to either preserve them until tomorrow, when I can share them with some friends, or freeze them to keep them for longer.
What’s the best way to keep them? Airtight container? Refrigerator? Will the freezer even work?
Airtight container, and then pop them in the toaster oven for a bit before serving. I used to work at an orchard that made apple cider donuts, and I took scads and scads of them home every weekend. Toasting them slightly brings the freshness right back, if done within a day or so.
Being lazy, single and without proper storage containers…I like to store stuff in the microwave sometimes, or the oven. For when you want it “fresh” but not cold.
