Let me put it another way, then: I wouldn’t trust your Nazi-friendly cite to accurately state what the current date is. Do you have another cite that is more…trustworthy?
edited to add: Preferably one that won’t get me called into my supervisor’s office.
According to Wiki, the police, fire & emergency services alone were more than $75mil. $45mil for the gala events themselves and I guess another $40-$50mil in stuff like cleanup & restoration in the National Mall, transportation & lodging for performers and who knows what else. It’s estimated to have had ~1.5 million attendees for the swearing in.
There was a concert the day before the inauguration as well which might be rolled into that $170m total.
Somewhere out there, the members of Nickleback must be saying, “Oh Thank Og That’s Not Us…”
Damn, I can’t believe 3DD is still in. Honestly, I love their The Better Life album. It was my #1 “get pumped up” CD to listen to before going kayaking. I am really disappointed.
Well… I wasn’t prepared for THAT but now I guess I’m somewhat obligated. More to follow.
I would personally like to hire Pussy Riot and have them play.
At this rate he’ll be lucky to get an organ grinder and a monkey with a cup.
No wildlife. Remember what happened with Trump and the eagle? The monkey would try to eat him.
And we don’t want a sick monkey on our conscience.
Saw on Facebook:
In a few short months Trump has gone from threatening to build a wall with Mexico to praying that a mariachi band will play at his Inauguration.~ Andy Borowitz
The cup would probably bow out to “spend more time with its family”.
Apparently the inauguration planners tried to get Garth Brooks. He declined, citing scheduling conflicts. I find his comments slightly hard to parse, but I think he’s saying they sold out their planned concerts in Cincinnati and added more shows there, which will keep him there through inauguration weekend.
I’d rather be in Cincy than at the inauguration too. It’s a great city! This is not meant as snark. I lived in Cincinnati for five years. Nice place.

Things have gotten to the point of [URL=“https://www.facebook.com/DonaldTrump/videos/10158473899090725/”]Trump personally trying to give away free tickets.
If you click on the link, it is not really for any ticket that does anything, but a commemorative ticket. Which is still worthless. Just like everything else he says.
According to Gallup, if he gets down below 22% it’ll be a new record.
You can do it, Donnie! I believe in you!
or had a better offer filming “Two Republicans, 1 Cup”
Wow, I didn’t realize Truman bottomed out at 22%. The Crazification Factor is traditionally pegged at 27%, but maybe 22% should be the benchmark. I think Trump can do it.
The polls are rigged. Sad.
Haven’t seen a mention of Jennifer Holliday here, who backed out of performing due to death threats. I wonder why nobody else wants to perform.
People seem to think that artists who perform at Trump’s inauguration must be Trump supporters. Why is that? As far as I know, it’s a paid gig.
Would you perform at a Klan rally for a few bucks?
Same idea. It’s deplorable.
Very few people in this country want to be associated with our new President. That’s a good thing.
It seems the ‘soft, sensual, poetic cadence’ that has been agreed upon as the official coronation vibe is a ‘go’. Trump sez he doesn’t care about celebrity entertainment! He is there for The People! He is doing this for The People!..Maybe they can bus in some Despicables from a trailer park and have a karaoke contest on The Mall.
This disappoints me (the death threats, I mean). It’s the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory writ large. People resort to death threats and demands that people be fired from their jobs way too quickly IMO these days.
It didn’t used to be, AIUI; performers did it for the prestige and exposure. The Trump team has been offering to pay and is still struggling. Mind you, Trump has offered to pay a lot of other people and didn’t come through, so let’s hope it’s cash up front this time.
