What's the last song you heard and liked instantly?

I know it’s subjective, but I think the new album “music for men” is much better. The tunes have better hooks and the production is so much slicker.

I decided to a search before I posted to see if anyone had mentioned “2012” from the new album. Damn I love that song.

Wow, me too. Very interesting song.

Not a fan of that one, but their cover of Aaliyah’s “Are U That Somebody” is awesome.

It’s a tie.

Dirt Road Anthem - Jason Aldean
or
No Sleep - Wiz Khalifa

I’m kinda all over the place when it comes to music.

“The Patient Ferris Wheel” by Gaslight Anthem, aka my New Favourite Band.

Checked out their albums and I like every single song. How does that even happen. Flew down to Baltimore for their show at Rams Head Live and had a freakin’ blast.

Yep, a masterpiece of its genre.

Fuck You by Cee Lo Green.

Vuroien taa by Indica, a Finnish pop band. I just stumbled across them on YouTube last night and I’m hooked. I already bought four of their songs off iTunes.

Also, Linnansa vanki from the same band.

I’m hooked, like I said, and I don’t even have the first idea what they’re singing about. It’s all in Finnish, which I don’t speak or read, so my enjoyment is purely musical and not due to any “deepness” to their lyrics or anything. I have to admit I do like the gypsy/dark fairytale/gothish type image they’re cultivating.

I was just listening to that an hour ago. Such a great song.

Mine is Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show. I loved it before the lyrics even started and when they did the question became when, not if, I would download the song.

Probably “What’s Going On?”, by 4 Non Blondes

Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off by Panic at the disco. I can’t believe I let this band escape my notice. I only found out about it after hearing it in the game Saints Row.

link: (not the full song but I like this mashup.

This Italian dark-ish pop number was thrown up by YouTube as a recommendation. Normally its recommendations are quite bizarre, I but I’m totally stuck on this. Help, I can’t stop, help!

Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap

And Keep the Car Running - Arcade Fire

Booty Swing by Parov Stelar - I saw/heard it in a commercial and I immediately had to look it up to find out about it.

In looking into it more, it’s a resampled/modernized version of a recording from the 1930’s - Oriental Swing by Lil Hardin & Her Swing Orchestra.

Some of the lyrics are a bit… “old-fashioned” with regard to race.

Furr by Blitzen Trapper

The Beat Goes On by Buddy (and Cathy) Rich. Not a new song, but it was new to me.

Bullet - Bite The Bullet

I dare you to try and not like it!

I just downloaded the new Chickenfoot album and Different Devil grabbed me right away. Sammy Hagar in fine voice, Joe Satriani on guitar. Nice, catchy melody. Throw in Michael Anthony and Chad Smith, and you’ve got a fine piece of music by some veteran musicians that Masta Shake would approve.

I just listened to it. Colour me meh. The latest Queen of indie hype Lana Del Rey’s Videogames was quite arresting when I first heard it. Another one that I really loved the first I heard it was Sketch! by Tieranniesaur.

It’s a tie between the enchanting Valentina Lisitsa’s interpretation of Chopin’s Nocturne C Sharp minor op 27 #1, and the enchanting Boxcar Willy’s interpretation of I Love The Sound Of A Whistle.
