What's the lifespan of a popup window?

Kinda gave it all away in the thread title.

I rarely see what’s in these irritations, sometimes they pop-up behind other windows but I see them in my tray and close them without looking.

Usual lifespan is about 1 second

Has anyone officially studied how long they last?
If most web-users are like me then advertisers should realise they’re wasting their money, no?

People can generally train themselves to automatically recognize and close the standard, reoccuring popup windows in less than a second. I’d say about 500 ms.

See, here’s the problem. Pop-ups are so cheap to put in place that even the tiniest response rate is still profitable. Extrapolating from personal experience is satisfying but not really an objective measure of their success. The website http://clickz.com/ has a lot of interesting material on web marketing.

Of course a good browser can be told not to open pop-ups at all. Lifespan = 0.

Yup, or F12 > Open requested pop-up windows only.

They last 0 seconds on my computer as well. Viva Mozilla!

“What’s a pop-up?” asked the Opera user.
