What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Today: A Bentley Bentayga SUV. I’m pretty sure I only imagined the neon “Fuck You” flashing across the back.

I saw a blue Hot Wheels Camaro on the back of an auto carrier-looked nice.

A 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird in bright yellow. Yowza!

The 917 would get my vote for sure. Come to Laguna Seca for Rennsport at the end of September. Porsches galore.

Yesterday at Pillar Point Harbor, a really clean-looking 1969 Ford Country Squire. Back in the day it must have been a great road trip vehicle.

At Fat Willy’s Antiques in Pacifc Grove today, a 1917 Buick D-45 Touring. Only $29,500, a real fixer-upper!

Good chance I’ll be there. It’s only a three hour trip and I have family in the area so there’s a free place to stay.

Most interesting car I saw today? If Facebook counts, a friend just had a truckload of cars delivered that he purchased at auction in Monterey last week. I’d go for the medium blue series 1.5 E-Type convertible out of the lot.

Went to the museum, where they are running a display of (mostly) rare 1930s cars. There was a 1937 Delahaye convertible, a 1938 Talbot Lago teardrop coupe, a 1941 Chrysler Thunderbolt hardtop convertible, a 1938 Graham “Shark Nose”, and my personal dream car, a 1937 Lincoln Zephyr. Drool.

I saw a 96 year old car on the road today. Terrible pic, but I was driving and didn’t want to mess with the phone for more than a few seconds. Vintage plates are legal in MA if the plates were issued in the vehicle’s year of manufacture. This car had 1922 plates.

I think it was a Willys Overland. It had no roof, no windshield, no seat belts, no doors, no fenders, no turn signals, no brake lights, and seemingly no suspension. The driver was using bicycle hand signals. It was surprisingly quick off the line, though it couldn’t have weighed very much.

Walked thru a Mustang show on Sun; about 300 of 'em.

This morning I saw a Studebaker Champ. I don’t think I knew they made a pick-up truck; but then they stopped making it before I was born.

That’s too cool!

A 1971 Datsun 240Z, looks like a daily driver in summer.

24 ouncers. That’s what we called them. A great car and I would love to have another.

What I saw today were not cars, but horse trailers, several of them, all big, all heading east to Ontario and Maine. The RCMP Musical Ride. Catch it if you can.

Yesterday on the 101, another clean Chevy station wagon, a 1962(?) Nova

1932 Mercedes Benz Roadster. Probably a replica. It was keeping up with traffic nicely.

A 1979 Mercury Colony Park station wagon, a full size station wagon so popular and common before the minivan craze of the 1980s.

Maybe not that interesting, but our family had a full sized station wagon, a 1967 Buick Sport Wagon, as did many other families. Full sized V-8 station wagons were all over the roads back then.

And this 1979 Mercury Colony Park station wagon, compared to the other cars near it on the freeway, it looked HUUUUUUUGE!

A C1 Corvette, not sure which year but by the body styling I think it was a 1958-60. Red, of course.

I saw a nice restored (red) Volvo P1800 today.

I’m seeing Teslas more and more often and I’ve even been seeing Maseratis from time to time. I think the last ‘interesting’ car I saw was a a Mclaren few months ago. I remember a few years back, seeing a car and thinking ‘what the hell is that’, as I passed it I could see that it was a Rolls Royce (real one, not a Chyrsler 300).
I also see Excaliburs on a borderline regular basis.

I’ve been seeing a few interesting cars recently, but nothing worth posting about until this week. Saw a Chevrolet SSR and a Plymouth Prowler on consecutive days, in the same part of town. I don’t think I’ve seen either one of those in the wild, before.

But this week, a Nissan Figaro; a deliberately retro design that was only sold for one year, and only in Japan. How it wound up 27 years later in Waltham, MA I have no idea. I had no idea what it was; would have guessed a small Italian make from the '60s, but it was right-hand-drive.

I went to a Porsche motorsport reunion at Lime Rock at least 10 years ago. Saw cars there I’d only ever heard of; I think there were five 917Ks, including their first Le Mans winner. I don’t remember a 936, which is about the only Porsche I haven’t seen.

Are you sure it said Ducati and not Bugatti? 30s race car is a pretty good description of old Bugattis.
