Range Rover Velar P380, it’s a dealer courtesy car in our parking lot today. It’s styling is fairly nice, but not what I think of when I think Range Rover.
Saw a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon while filling up at the gas station today. One of the most over-the-top ridiculous cars ever made, IMO. 808hp stock, RWD. Told the guy I was sure I could beat him in a race… if it was raining or snowing.
I drive a BMW 4 series, in that race I’d have an advantage because it’s not an M… AWD!
Just saw this in a Google image search for 1941 Fords: '41 Ford coupe on a Willys frame, engine, and 4×4 running gear.
At the charging station in my office parking lot were two red Teslas parked side by side, a Model X and a Model 3. Then, elsewhere in the parking lot were two white Teslas parked side by side, a Model X and a Model 3.
I saw a Subaru Impreza, not sure if it was a WRX, with no front bumper, rally lights, painted olive drab, lifted probably 6", and probably 32" tires on it. A bit like this but rougher: http://i.imgur.com/QJL559J.jpg
Not today, but over the weekend I saw a 1989 Trans AM GTA Turbo parked on the curb in front of someone’s house in my neighborhood. I had to stop and admire that one for a minute. Never seen one other than at a car show.
Nash Ambassador, from the 50’s, in Super trim.
Très chic!
I saw that '66 MGB again today. Oh, wait… I was driving it! ![]()
Thanks! ![]()
So as I was pulling the MG out of the corner market’s parking lot this evening, I saw a nicely-restored '50-something Chevy. At least I think it was a Chevy. Those kinds of cars all look alike to me.
And speaking of old cars, and since Rocketeer is here… My friend I bought my house from dug up an old die-cast car when he was working on the house about 16 or 17 years ago. It’s one of those cheap pot-metal jobs about 4" long that you would get in an assortment pack at drug stores and the like. There’s no paint on it, and one axle and pair of wheels is long gone. I think I’ll smooth it out with some steel wool and give it a coat of paint. (One colour, like it’s supposed to be. Probably light blue.) It would be nice if it had all of its wheels though. Rocketeer, since you’re a model builder I thought maybe you could help me find wheels and give me some advice. I’ll PM you whenever I get around to taking pics.
Saw a Tesla Model S yesterday. Before I realized what it was, I thought, “That’s a really good looking high-end car.” Yup, very nice.
Saw a '57 Chevy Nomad wagon with the full chrome package last week. Wish I could get a ride in one of those.
Probably about top speed for that 2CV.
A friend of mine owns one, from near the end of production, when nobody worried too much about workmanship. One of the mommies in their daycare carpool was a worrying type; he used to tease her by driving, when it was his turn, that cheap little tin box of a car.
He told me the front doors flexed out at the bottoms at freeway speeds, and you could see the ground whizzing by through the crack between the door and doorframe.
I don’t know much about diecasts, but there are websites around where people sell reproduction wheels and such. Light blue sounds like just the right color. Diecasts are usually a zinc alloy, so I’d be darned careful about using any sort of paint stripper on it.
Was behind a Jaguar XFR-S at a stop light earlier. A pretty sad looking blue color. Who buys these $100k [del]Fords[/del] cars?
Sunday I saw a 1936 orange and white Ford delivery sedan at a local gas station. I know that’s what it was, because I asked. They’d cut a window into the engine compartment so you could see the shiny, too.
I was briefly behind an older electric car on my commute home. I don’t know if it was a kit, but it looked sort of like a Omni/Horizon, but it more poorly put together. I couldn’t find anything online that matched. I only knew it was electric because it had an electric car license plate.
1971 mgb gt
Nice choice. My friends are bragging about their same new ride, different color though.
RAV4 3-door convertible soft top
Thanks! Every time I pass someone now I have this big, stupid grin on my face (Well, no stupider than usual anyway!
 )
I was in Edmonton this weekend and saw a beautifully restored '59 Corvette convertible in yellow on white. I suspect it’ll be under covers soon as we’re getting snow this week…
