What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Passed a rusty Toyota FJ40, rusty as hell but poking along fine. I keep thinking of snagging one of these as a fun runabout before a nice one gets to early Bronco/Land Rover money.

An '05-'06 Ford GT40. There are relatively few cars about which I’d ever use the term “object of lust”, but that’s one of them.

A white Audi R8, a little surprising this far into winter. They’ve already started salting the roads.

The car from the 1960s is the GT40; the reboot in 2005 is just a Ford GT. The orginal was called GT40 because the roofline topped out at 40 inches; the modern car is taller (44 inches, iirc). Sorry, the car nerd in me couldn’t let that slide.

I do like the Ford GT, though.

A Tata Xenon. I did not know it came with a crew cab and a diesel.

A 1st-gen Toyota MR2. In black.

A baby blue Bentley coupe in a family ski area parking lot.

Forgot this one. Last Thursday: a green Viper convertible. And a fugly green at that. Just awful. Why would someone pick that color???

The top was up. Just a tad too chilly that day.

Saw a BMW 550i GT (could have been Xi?). It came out about a decade ago and the looks got bad press, but you got a lot of “you have to see it in person” comments. They were right - it’s not pretty, but the car has presence when seen in person. BMW only sels/sold a couple thousand a year so they’re scarce - since it debuted in 2009 I’ve never seen one anywhere.

On the commute this morning I was passed by a BWM 530e iPerformance plug-in hybrid.

A white Mazda RX-8, on my commute this morning. I see fewer and fewer of those RX-8s out there.

A Saturn SC-2

Last night I was behind a new, yellow, Porsche 911. Now, I’m partial to the original body style, up to 1989; but the new ones aren’t exactly ugly. Based on the license plate, this one was owned by a doctor.

The Ford EXP

The frog-eyed bastard child of a Mustang and an Escort.

Sigh. It’s winter. It’s probably going to be a while until I see another interesting car. But maybe I can catch an interesting ugly to rival the Ford EXP.

Today I saw a Buick Cascadia on the highway. I never really give a lot of thought to Buicks one way or the other. They were always fixed in my mind as a sort of stodgy luxury-ish car. But the Cascadiawas really good-looking. I just went to the Buick site, and some of their cars look sweet. The Regal TourX is a pretty sharp sport wagon (which I thought were extinct). I have no idea of the quality or anything, and the mileage is for shit. But they look great.

That’s not a Buick!

An old Studebaker Avanti on the interstate this morning.

A '66 Dodge Charger. Yeah, it’s basically a Coronet with a fastback, but I always liked 'em.

Heh, Coronet. I bet most of you young whippersnappers have no idea what I’m talking about, eh?

I saw this car on the road this morning. I couldn’t identify it. Anybody know what it is?
