What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Not today, but a couple of weeks ago: a Surfer/Art Van on West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz

A 1976 Triumph Spitfire. Dark blue with tan interior. No rust, new soft top, good hard top, perfect upholstery, runs good.

I just brought it home tonight.

Congrats!
Yesterday I saw an original 2-door Toyota FJ/Land Cruiser.

Both yesterday (heading away for the weekend) & today (coming home) I drove past a McLaren dealership; they had 4 in the parking lot out front.

My drive home from work today (North San Diego county to San Diego city) was unusually prolific. It’s usually the regular commuter vehicles, with nothing more unusual than a Tesla, but today there was some cool stuff.

There was a new model Honda Civic Type R. I’ve only seen one of two of those on the road.

I saw a flat-bed truck carrying a mid- to late-1980s Porsche 911 Turbo with the slantnose treatment - a 930S. I say mid to late '80s not because I could identify the exact year, but because the slantnose version wasn’t sold outside of Europe until 1985 and after. That’s assuming this was the factory version, and not an aftermarket job.

Early in my commute, just after getting on the freeway, I saw a low orange wedge in my rearview mirror, and I stayed with it for about 10 miles until it exited - Lamborghini Huracan.

And then, just as I was pulling off the freeway, I fell in behind a 1993 Porsche Carrera RS America. I’ve seen it in my neighborhood before, so I assume it’s local.

Not today, but I recently saw what I eventually and by pure chance I discovered to have been an El Camino. Or so I think: it did look like a muscle car had a baby with a pickup truck. This one had Arizona plates, was black with the POW-MIA pictures on the doors, and I saw it loading up on gas near Lyon (France).

A late model, high-end Dodge Ram pickup truck gently changing lanes, after signalling first.

I figured that, with all the car people in this thread, there might also be smoe motorsports fans. If you’re at home today, and want to see some great racing on one of the worlds best circuits, you can stream the Bathurst 12 Hour free and legal.

The race started at 1.45 pm Eastern/10.45am Pacific in the US. i’ll leave you to guess, from the name, how long it runs.

There are a couple of streams available. There’s the official race website:

https://www.bathurst12hour.com.au/streams-tv/international-streaming/

But I had some problems with the streaming on that site, and I couldn’t get the video to show in fullscreen mode, so I’m using Motorsport TV from the UK:

As far as I can tell, the video and commentary are identical on the two sites. I also started a separate thread.

A 2nd generation (1953-56) Ford F-100, lowered. Or maybe they are really just that low. It looked like a work in process, but maybe all that was needed was the final paint job.

And a 1st generation Geo Tracker (1989-98) winter driver. It looked like piece of crap, but that’s probably it’s highest goal in life.

Another fun winter car, an 1993 Chrysler LeBaron convertible. Wow, that’s 26 years old!

I saw several interesting cars on my commute this morning on highway 17/880. Not because of the models or vintage, but because they had a couple of inches of snow on their roofs and trunks. Guess the Santa Cruz Mountains got a little more than a “dusting” last night.

What appeared to be a first-gen Honda City, Southbound on I-45. Not something one sees in the Houston suburbs every day.

A perfectly ordinary white Prius, except that the body was covered in what looked like kid’s drawings of faces. I couldn’t tell if it was a custom printed skin or if they’d gone wild with permanent markers. (Are there even permanent markers that work on auto paint?)

Kind of the same in that it’s weather related… I saw a Lamborghini Murcielago (which isn’t particularly unusual) but it was in the middle of an all day serious rain storm outside of Los Angeles. The kind of rain where you can’t see more than 100 yards in front of you. I just can’t imagine who would wake up and say “Let’s take the 600 HP supercar out in the pouring rain for a Costco trip”.

I just came back from the Philly Auto Show, and saw a Lamborghini SUV…the Urus.

Toyota Supra, 3rd gen, silver — very clean and nice.

(on TV…that counts, doesn’t it? :D)

Jim Clark’s Lotus 25, seen on the new episode of The Grand Tour. The Hamster gets to take it for a spin. Color me jealous.

I spotted an Eagle Summit this afternoon. Kind of a hatchback, not quite a minivan in red.

With the fender mounted mirrors?

A fairly well used MV-1, haven’t seen one in a while.

I might have seen one of those today too. I didn’t recognize it at the time. I was on the interstate, and the weather was not very good, so I couldn’t get a close look. I wanted to get a picture to post in this thread, but I couldn’t get my phone out. The vehicle I saw was boxy like that and had a checkerboard grill like the MV-1 LX on the site. This one was covered in some kind of commercial paint job. Amazing if that’s what I saw on the same day you posted about it.

Looks like a fat Honda Element
