What's the most interesting car you saw today?

a metallic red Fiat Spider (Miata). I have to say as much as I like the new Miata, the Fiat looks better.

On my walk yesterday, a '62 Corvair station wagon for sale.

Loved my 62 Monza. The Greenbriers are neat little cars.

Last night, walking the dog, a block down from us parked on the street was a mid-50s Bentley 4-door. Absolutely cherry, inside and out. Two tone paint - silver over dark green. Inside, the front seat looked like a pair of beautiful leather easy chairs! Vanity plate read “NOT POOR”

Last night, Saturday, even now you see the classics come out around Los Angeles. Saw a classic Prowler, Bentley and maybe an Edsel? Had fins on the tail, but it wasn’t a '57 Chevy or Bel Air. Tails were smaller than those and not ornate with taillights.

Several 1st gen Corvettes around here [NE FL].

Often see a white Ferrari. And a black one. Orange Lambo.

Once last year I saw a yellow Lotus at the beach getting gas. Hmm that’s pretty…

I then went off [SW] into the countryside, to a road inland 35 miles away from where I saw him, a very thinly traveled route…

Soon after I had turned north, I see a yellow car coming towards me.

Yep, it was him. Or one of two yellow Lotuses out and about that day…

Several today on my afternoon bike ride, but the cream of the crop was a 1st generation Chevy Chevelle SS, growling along by the river. Also a Rolls Royce Phantom and a Smokey and the Bandit era Trans Am t-top.

Saw a black mid-engine Corvette at the Hobart Store the other day. Someone who lives out in the sticks past Hobart apparently has a sh*t-load of money.

In Willow Glen today, a sharp-looking 66 Bel Air station wagon

Yesterday while out for a walk a Dodge Challenger Hellcat drove past.

I just checked out my cart just with this https://www.ramsareus.com/sku/82209426ac.html. First aid kit from mopar. I’m just so curious as to what’s inside. It is indeed shopping trend shifted from random things to essential health items and in my defense, it is for health!

Chatting with new neighbors about some of the cars that cruise by, and i mentioned that there’s a black Lotus Elise that I have seen shoot down the street that is new to me. I was gently mansplained that, no, it was a Polaris Slingshot and only had three wheels. I said yes, I know the Slingshot, there is an Elise. (They are both black.) “No,” I’m told, “Look, here it comes now.” he says as the Slingshot comes by at an unusually decorous pace. Yes, I agree, it is a Slingshot. But there’s that sound approaching. I said “Wait a moment, hear that?” Yep, he nods and then the Elise goes screaming by. “That is a Lotus Elise,” says I. “Don’t mansplain cars to me.”

His girlfriend thinks I am the bomb.

That was some silly mansplaining there.

I don’t imagine that more than one American in 50 would even know what a Lotus Elise is, so if someone told me that they’d seen a Lotus Elise I would automatically assume that they know enough about cars to make that identification. And it’s not like the Elise and the Slingshot look even a little bit alike. I could see mistaking an Elise for an Evora from a distance, or for a Tesla Roadster, but no-one who’s ever seen an Elise and knows what it is will mistake it for a Slingshot.

I didn’t even know you could get a Lotus in the States. I haven’t seen one since the 70’s and it was a tin can. Seriously, it was painful to watch going by. You could see it hit every tiny bump in the road as if there were no shocks.

Some in my office drives one, I see it most summer days in the parking lot. At least I did when I used to go to the office …

Lotuses were plentiful when I live in L.A. Up here in the boonies, there was a woman who dove one a few years ago. I see them occasionally between here and Seattle.

The same Volvo Amazon wagon I’ve seen driving around on Friday evenings and mentioned a few times before, but this time it was in a parking lot and I was able to get some pictures of it.

The interesting I hadn’t noticed until now is that it has an old black California license plate on the back, and a European style Swedish plate on the front, both with the same numbers. Since California requires a front plate, but only requires registration stickers on the rear one, this is an interesting way of complying with the rule. Assume it actually does comply. Or maybe California makes an exception for classic cars.

He’s pretty young. I forgave him because he is nice and he had the grace to laugh at himself.

I usually spend this weekend at a club race, but the governor gave it a thumbs down. He 's been very good so far, but he doesn’t know crap about the road racing done by clubs as opposed to a big NASCAR event.

The Lotus Europa was always one of my dream cars, even if I would have to use a can of wd-40 and a shohorn to fit in one… Saw a WRX with THE WORLD’S LARGEST SPOILER driving around Edmonton Friday. He also had the wheels all splayed out like he was just waiting for the invite to drift around the Sherwood Park Costco… Also saw a matte chromatic wrapped Model 3 with tinted windows that looked really good.
