In the mid to late 80s, we had an ice racing team that would actually race a Europa. That car was so light it would bounce all over the rutted track. But they sure had fun.
There was a beautiful vintage (68-72) Ferrari Pininfarina parked right across the street today. Convertible top was down, tan leather interior. Very nice.
Oops. Looks like I’ve reported this car in the past. The guy must live around here.
Was it the most interesting car you saw today? If so, it’s good.
I saw an Isuzu Hombre (rebadged Chevy S-10) tonight. That’s mildly interesting since the Isuzu version was quite a bit less common than its Chevy counterpart. But the thing that made it more interesting was that it had whitewall tires. That’s kind of an odd look on a compact pickup, particularly since the truck itself was also white, and it didn’t look like it was customised in any other way.
Just the other day I had a car behind me with lights up on the roof (not on). Those KC type lights. This was a car, mind you, not a truck or SUV. And some point I noticed the car, again, car, had appeared to be a jeep, as this is what I was seeing in my rear view mirror. I let it get around me so I could get a better look and noticed it had the body shape of a Fiero or Honda Del Sol.
Some research when I got home tells me it was a Fiero Jalapeno. Which, from what I quickly gathered, is a Fiera with a very, very modified Jeep body kit on it.
I also saw a Mustang Grade yesterday. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the Mustang logo on the grill I wouldn’t have known what it was. It didn’t have the scooped doors so many (nearly all) Mustangs have. It pulled up next to me at a bank drive though and I left before it, so I didn’t get a chance to see the back, but from the front/side it looked about like this. In fact, until it got close enough that I could see the entire grill (and the mustang logo), I was thinking it was a GTO.
Friday on the way home from work, on a 2 lane country highway, I saw a small mini van towing (with one of those yellow tow straps) a big pickup (F 250?) with a lift kit and big off road tires. Attached to the truck was a trailer carrying small tractor.
Today I saw two high end exotic sports cars racing, or at least “driving very fast together” on the country road across the (narrow) lake from my house. Can’t tell you what they were but they sounded pretty good!
A BWM 5 Series convertible, nothing especially interesting, but a kayak in the passenger seat sticking up into the air over the backseat and trunk.
UPDATE
Turns out, the Slipstream wasn’t being used as a workshop. The owners have taken it all down to bare metal, inside and out, and are refurbishing it entirely. Taking great pains to do it, as well. Looking forward to seeing the restoration progress on future walk-bys.
I’m going to cheat and post something I didn’t see in person. Remember those beautiful old Cord automobiles, which kinda looked like rolling coffins? As recently as 2017, someone was trying to resurrect them…as TRIKES.

I’m not finding much beyond 2017 cites. There’s an “inquire” which might tell you if you really wanted to know the status (another Elio?), cost, wait time…
Airstream, maybe? I tried Googling Slipstream and couldn’t find anything interesting.
Blue Dodge Viper. One of those coupe ones, blue with large white stripe along the top of the thing. Always liked the look of those…so much better than the convertible model.
Weird exhaust note though, inherent to the firing pulses of a V-10. You figure it would sound like a throaty V8 on 'roids, but it sounds like a cross between a crotch-rocket motorcycle and a UPS truck. Lame.
Saw a black Checker Marathon while out walking today, in excellent shape. It wasn’t a taxi, but it had the black/white checkerboard stripe down the sides of the old Checker Cab Company. I peered inside and it looked to have two fold-down jump seats attached to the back of the front seats, for additional passengers.
I went for a walk yesterday evening, and changed up my route from where I usually walk. I often find taking a different route from usual is a good way to discover interesting cars around one’s own neighborhood:
-As I came up to a T intersection, I spotted the tail of an old Imperial peeking out from under a tarp in someone’s driveway.
-Just about two houses down from the Imperial was this somewhat modified Studebaker pickup.
-Across the street from the Imperial a guy was working on his first gen Bronco in his driveway. I didn’t photograph that.
-Also in the same vicinity I spotted three C5 Corvettes all parked in front of the same house. I didn’t photograph them either just because I don’t find Corvettes of that generation all that interesting, but in hindsight I wish I had just because it was a gathering of three of them which made the scene a bit more interesting.
-Heading back towards home, I saw the old Buick Skylark I’ve mentioned before pull up and park at the curb, so I walked over to photograph it as well. The owner came out as I was taking pictures and told me it’s a 1979 model.
-I also made a slight detour on the way home to check out this old Cadillac I spotted earlier that day. Based on looking at pictures online I’m pretty sure it’s a '69. I’ve seen other old cars parked in this spot before. I’m guessing whoever lives there buys classic cars, drives them for a while, and then sells them.
If I have to pick just one as “most interesting” I guess it would be the Imperial, just because they never sold that well compared to their Cadillac and Lincoln competitors. The Studebaker truck would have been more interesting to me if it were stock, but I’ve never been as into “restomods” like this one seems to be.
A 9th Generation Olds 98 (1971-76), looking the full 230 inches long representation of the nadir of American luxury car production.
Oh, and a Commuter Vehicles Citicar, in fact, this exact car - Progress is fine, but it's gone on for too long.: CitiCar I’ve seen it before on the streets but it’s been a while. It lives somewhere close by my house.
On my walk after dinner tonight I spotted a first generation (1974-83) VW Rabbit, with one mismatched fender and a surprising lack of rust elsewhere.
That little Fiero Jalapeno I mentioned a few posts up. Saw it again, parked right outside the door at my store. Took a wild guess at which customer was driving it and asked him about it. He was surprised I knew what it was.
A McClaren 600LT, going a blistering 45 mph on Woodlands Parkway.
a big convertible from the 60s , not sure what model. Taillights were round. In great shape. Don’t think it was a GTO.
Round taillights were kind of a Ford trademark in those days, although I believe Dodge used round taillights for a while as well.
