What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Truimphs are extremely safe. It’s almost impossible to get in a bad wreck while it’s sitting in your driveway waiting for a part to arrive.

& we have another nomination for the best username/post combo of the year.

A 1953 Bentley R-Type in Angels Camp, CA. Right-hand drive, too.

Today, a Porsche 356 Coupe, red, in Sunnyvale CA. Then later, a Porsche 914-6, orange, on I-280 in Palo Alto. Seeing a 914 is a rare enough treat, but to see a 914-6 was special. These days I see 356s out on the road more often than I do 914s: I see 356s about 6-8 times a year, and 914s about 3 times a year.

Thanks for sharing this.

Sat - Early 60’s Jag sedan in B.R. Green
Sun - Convertible Audi R8. First time I’ve seen a soft top version in real life.

There’s a white Bentley Continental GT parked outside my morning-commute Starbucks every day. I don’t remember if I actually saw it today though. The most interesting car I remember was a last-generation Mercedes S-Class which had been lowered by somebody who clearly had no idea what he was doing. The sills and front air dam were so close to the ground they’d be touching if a heavy raindrop hit the car. At first I thought the springs had collapsed, but I’ve never seen that happen at all four corners and it had aftermarket wheels.

Aaakkk; they’re everywhere! Walked out at lunch, there’s a white R8 hardtop.

So you don’t like my mods?

In the Castro in SF yesterday i saw a mint-condition Citroen 2CV in tan with dark brown trim. Very nice.

A first for me today.

The missus and i went for a drive up into the Golden Gate Recreation Area, in Marin County.

We were out of the car walking along the road, and i saw a small red sports car make a turn towards us in the distance. At first i thought it was a Lotus, or a Tesla roadster, but as it got closer i realized it was a brand new Alfa Romeo 4C. It looks just as good in the flesh as it does in photos, and it has a nice raspy exhaust note as well.

I was down in FL the last few days so I saw some cars that are not on the roads here in Boston mid-winter.

There was a 1965 Ford Mustang that looked like it was a daily driver. Not a beautiful restoration, but a well used car. Also, an early 70s Dodge Challenger, which looked like a nice restoration.

I saw the homologation car in a workshop last month…its freaking gorgeous!!!

A DeLorean today, in Sunnyvale. I rarely see this car on Bay Area streets, although I did see one a few months ago. This one today was stopped at an intersection as I drove past it, right next to it. I’m driving my Jeep Grand Cherokee with stock suspension, and man oh man that DeLorean is LOW to the ground! It seemed like a flat pancake to me looking down at it as I drove past.

A daily driver BMW 2002, probably early 70’s model. I’m surprised the guy was driving it in winter here in Boston.

This morning for the 2nd time in a week I saw a Maserati Ghibli, which is really nothing all that special, but I had never seen one on a public road before.

I assume you mean the current model Ghibli, not the classic 1960s/1970s 2+2? Because if it were the older car, that would be a rare sighting indeed. They made fewer than 1,500 of them.

A 70’s Chevy Nova in a buff color called “Buckskin.” Not too many Novas around these days–especially ones that look exactly like my mom’s car from about 1975.

Current model, yes.

I went to a car show yesterday, so mentioning any of those would be cheating. I did see some neat stuff though. Perfect day for an outdoor show; sunny, light wind, low 70s.

Today I saw the county’s SWAT truck and their bomb squad truck. As well as their pink breast cancer-themed fire truck. They were on the road, but this is still a bit of a cheat since they were in an MLK Day parade, not out working.

Away from the parade I saw an NSX. You don’t see those every day for sure. Back in the day I lusted after one of those a lot.

Teslas, Maseratis, and Ferraris are commonplace enough around here to not even warrant a second glance.

I forgot about this thread. And I don’t think a car show is cheating… well maybe just a bit… but an auction, well that is totally different  I happened to go to the Barrett-Jackson auction last weekend and I think I trumped everyone many times over. My own personal favorite was the 1 of 1 remaining Shelby Super Snake. The other was given to Bill Cosby who decided it was too much car for him to handle so he sold it… and that guy drove it over a cliff. It kind of puts it in perspective when you have a classic Bentley just sitting in a dark corner mostly ignored.
