What's the most interesting car you saw today?

I saw a new Range Rover Defender–looks like a caricature of an off-road vehicle. Super expensive and extra silly.

That’s pretty cool. Did anyone else notice the license plate is F-KING.

He said he had another 1991 Nissan, same colour, and I saw a pic on my phone; but I don’t remember what it was. I think it was Japanese market only.

This late 1980s Buick Park Avenue* was parked on my street for a while this afternoon. I assume it belongs to one of the construction workers working across the street. I had one just like it in high school and part of college, except mine was grey. Yes, that’s the car where the paint peeled off the hood on the freeway. Although I assume this car’s paint problems are due to age rather than a cheap repaint.

*If you’re a pedant, it’s technically an “Electra Park Avenue”, as Park Avenue was a trim level of the Electra at the time.

When I see paint like that, it’s almost always a white Chevy.

Yep. My parents’ white wagon peeled in the same area.

Rare here in the SF Bay Area — a yellow taxi.

Yeah, but it’s no Marin Checker Taxi

True enough.

The old Buick is back, which pretty much confirms it belongs to one of the construction workers. The thing that really strikes me about it now is just how small it looks compared to the newer cars parked around it. The one I had in the late 90s and early 2000s felt like a really big car at the time. It was very roomy inside. But this one is parked behind a Dodge Challenger (the some one parked across the street in the pic from a few days ago). The Challenger completely dwarfs the Buick. But I’m pretty sure these (and the related Oldsmobiles and Cadillacs) were considered full sized cars in their day.

A Gen 6 Buick Riviera convertible in outstanding condition, white with a maroon top & interior. Photo gallery of a similar car:

Turns out, the convertibles were only produced from 1982-1985 and no more than 1750 any given year with under 4000 total, pretty rare.

I saw a Tesla 3 with a whale tail wing on the back of it. I had to do a double-take, couldn’t believe what I was looking at. But sure enough, a big-ass tail on it.

Amazing.

I had the Matchbox version as a kid. It even came with a little removable plastic top, and a little plastic tonneau cover you could stick in its place.

After I got home and was reading about these cars, I was wishing I could have talked to the driver about it and got a photo. However, he was right next to me at a stoplight and I wouldn’t have been able to get a clear shot, even if I was able to overcome my self consciousness about photographing strangers in public. He also pulled into a parking lot right after the light flipped and I couldn’t really have followed him in.

The chrome was perfect and the top of the fenders, doors and quarters has some tastefully subtle maroon pinstripes to match the interior and top. This car I just learned existed hours ago has jumped to nearly the top of my realistic-fantasy list.

In traffic today I saw a racy looking little car. When it passed next to me I saw that it was a McLaren. I took a quick look around the internet just now and it looked like a 720S. I didn’t see any badging that actually said that, just McLaren on the back, but that’s the one online that most resembles the one I saw.

A very nice, clean 1st gen Ford Bronco. The owner has had it for 17 years.

That’s a beautiful thing to see @Bullitt , thanks for sharing.

Definitely sweet, isn’t she. I’m reminded that I saw another one about two years ago. Both of them were within a mile or two from my house. Here are the pics I took two years ago.

A pretty, and pretty practical vehicle. I’ll take the teal colored one, thank you.

A nice 1965 Ford Thunderbird convertible. I met the owner. He’s had it only a couple of years.
