Now this C8 Corvette… This California license plate can’t be legal! Was this issued by the DMV? Or was it modified after issue? It’s very hard to read.
Here are the rest of the pictures of that C8. It has subtle star appliqués on the front fenders. But to read the license plate readily, I had to get really close. That can’t be legal.
That’s the black and yellow alternate plate that California issues that someone’s modified. It’s not legal, but it would take a motivated cop to bother with pulling him over. I wonder if he had a ‘legal’ set of plates on standby to swap out if a cop does hassle him about it.
The cops down here seem to be super lax about plate issues. I have never put on the front plate and have never been asked about it. Until recently, we didn’t even have temporary tags, so when you bought a car, you could drive it around without any plates as long as you had the temporary registration on hand when asked.
I live a little south of San Francisco and I haven’t had the front plate on my Grand Cherokee in the seven years since I bought it.
But I hear that in San Francisco they often cite parked cars for that, for The City to generate revenue.
I see it has an Illinois plate; if you really want to know, you can ask their Secretary of State. The answer will cost you five bucks.
I agree with this. I think it is a kit car version of an Excalibur.
I saw a Polestar 2 sedan today. Nice looking, but nothing really eye catching about it.
That’s what I like about it. Pleasant styling, nothing too dramatic, and it’ll kick ass on the streets. A true sleeper.
A Chevy Lumina APV (the minivan). You just don’t see those anymore. a real symbol of the early 90s.
I also saw a Dodge Neon a few days ago. Same deal, very few on the road anymore.
A Ural motorcycle with a sidecar. It looks old school, but looking at their current offerings it’s probably fairly new. Urals were officially exported to the US, although give the current sanctions against Russia I don’t know if they still are.
My wife spotted this yesterday, and spoke with the owner briefly. If you can’t read the license plate it reads Blown57, I’m going to have to go past the house and speak with the owner. I want to see this car in action.
They just moved their factory to Kazakhstan so they could keep importing them.
lol I like the Jurassic park sticker lol
The purple crown sticker is a mountain bike area in VT called Kingdom Trails. The Jurassic park sticker is actually for Mike’s Bikes. And the Motherload Trail Stewardship is a mountain bike organization in Nevada.
Today, I positioned myself along a quiet road to watch the cars participating in the New London to New Brighton Antique Car Run. I then caught up with a cars and an old friend at their mid-afternoon stop. I think my favorite was either the Northern or the REO Runabout, but I loved to see them all.
This bike* was parked right across the street from a Mike’s Bikes store. It would not surprise me if the owner worked there. Or at least was a frequent customer.
*Or is it technically a trike, since it looks like there’s an axle that drives the wheel on the sidecar.
I’m heading up to Monterey tomorrow for Car Week. It’s one of those situations where we go from “most interesting car today” to ‘most interesting car in the last five minutes.” Super excited. This is my first time since before COVID.
A REO Speed Wagon light truck from the 1920s. It’s in San Carlos CA near where I used to work. I have 16 pictures of it, alongside my Jeep.
REO Speed Wagon is not pronounced like the music band (they spell out the R, E, and O). It’s pronounced “reeyo”.
I saw a late-50s early-60s Cadillac 2-door with the unmistakable tailfins. It didn’t have the rear lights in the middle of the fins, so I’m thinking 1961 or so. It was out for a Sunday drive. It appeared to be original paint, a sort of silver that had faded over the years. Huge car.
I didn’t see it but my husband did - a Mazda Miata with big knobby tires and a bumper guard in front like one sees on a police car. I wish he’d taken a picture of it…
