What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Often called the “Fiata.” And it’s a little more than just a rebadge as it has a different, Fiat sourced turbocharged motor.

A bunch of interesting cars today.

First, a Chevy SSR hot rod pickup on my drive to the park.

Then I spotted a weird semi-pickup truck that I’d never seen before. Apparently it’s a Hyundai Santa Cruz, first released in 2021. Interesting.

Then a brand new Range Rover Defender 130 with some nice accessories. This was also introduce recently, in 2020 I believe.

Finally, I ended up parked next to this thing. It may be custom, it may be a limited edition. Either way it’s unusual.

What’s the ladder thing on the side of the Defender?

A ladder.

That’s much more like what I expected the new Bronco to look like.
Coincidentally, when the new Bronco came out, I thought it looked like a Land Rover.

(ETA, it’s possible the color scheme is throwing me. My dad had a early 90’s Bronco with a similar paint job)

Looks like someone is trying to copy the Subaru Brat.

And I saw another Defender (maybe a 110) walking home from dinner tonight.

How do you know it wasn’t just out for a stroll?

OK, fun walk today, I may have to explore this neighborhood more often.

First, to cleanse the palate, a Chevy Chevette, apparently being used as a saw horse.

Then up the hill was this beauty. I think it’s a 1961 Cadillac Coupe deVille. Has it been lowered? Also, it was purchased in Las Vegas, which means it may have some great stories to tell.

And finally, I almost walked past this 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria in absolutely gorgeous condition because it was in a driveway on the side of a house.

Close. I make it to be a '62 Sixty-Two and, yes, it is lower than stock.

I think it is a '62 as well. And definitely lowered.

I had to do a trip to Syracuse today. Passed a convoy, police escort, oversize load warning cars, and a single blade of a power generating windmill on the interstate. It was actually going 65, took me a bit to pass it, cuz, well, police, speeding, etc.

A Mercedes-Benz Unimog. Unimog is an acronym for UNIversal-MOtor-Gerät, and Gerät means equipment. These rigs are very capable off road, and this example is clearly not a mall crawler.

I rode in a Unimog in Alaska. They’re very cool and excellent in their niche.

I love the Unimog. Considered buying one for a plow truck. But they are out of my reach.

A friend of a friend has two Unimogs. He belongs to the local Unimog group. This one is an ambulance he brought one year when we were camping and shooting on BLM land in Nevada. To get there it was 250 miles from home, and he said he could only do a max of about 50-55 on the interstate. That’s a painful 5 hours, when my Grand Cherokee did it in 3.

Here, his Unimog towers over my Grand Cherokee. That rig is a beast!

Fiskar Karma. I’ve seen a few of these, but this particular one (I will have to grab a pic) has been sitting in the same parking spot under a tree at the local Office Depot. It has not moved in months so I am curious what the deal is.

Ditto for a C5 Corvette parked by the side of the school soccer field - not a unique car, but in this case, this one looks to be in very good shape, but it has not been moved in so long that the weeds around it are growing higher than the wheels.

And from what I understand, while it’s based on the Miata, the 124 Spider has a very different “personality” that feels more like a typical Italian sports car, at least if you get the Abarth version. IIRC when they reviewed it on Top Gear, their conclusion was that if you get a 124 Spider, you should get the Abarth version. If you don’t want to pay the extra money for the Abarth, you’re better off just getting a Miata.

I was behind a Kia EV6 this evening. I’m pretty sure it’s the first time I’ve spotted one in the wild. While it’s Kia’s counterpart the the Hyundai Ioniq, the EV6 is definitely going for more futuristic, “out there” styling. It’s also a lot bigger in person than it appears in photos.

I saw a Chevy Bolt EUV. It’s a larger variant of the Chevy Bolt.
