What's the most interesting car you saw today?

#1 today, what the camera captured — untouched photo

#2 today, what my eye saw — new paint colors these days can really POP

Spotted at the end of a driveway, couldn’t get a good look at it so no badges. I suspect a late 60s Plymouth.

Google Photos

Plenty of pusher configured aircraft over the years. They tend to be objectionable noisy though as the prop chops the exhaust it a way that sounds terrible.

Yep, and I suspect that’s the original color. During the muscle car era Chrysler offered some outrageously bright colors like that at extra cost. I believe that one is “plum crazy”.

That’s GOTTA be a Burt Rutan design, right?

Just a guess, and not willing to look it up right now.

I can see why you’d think so, but nope.

The Beech Starship from about the same time period did have Rutan’s input.

1967 Plymouth Barracuda.

Cool, thanks @Pork_Rind .

Huh. Did not know that was because the prop ‘chops’ the exhaust. Learned something new today.

Yeah, that looks like a match. I couldn’t find a match for tail lights but that looks pretty dead on. I guess they removed the badging from the trunk at some point. I think I saw the fastback when doing my searches and that didn’t match.

Good call. I almost forgot they were anything other than fastbacks.

[MoparNerd=10]Plymouth called that color In-Violet. It wasn’t available in 1967 so it’s not original for this car.[/MN]

The original one under discussion was Rutan, the one @Pork_Rind posted is not. But there’s no question they are building upon what is known from other aircraft, so still homage to Rutan.

I saw an old Jaguar XJS this morning. And I’m pretty sure I got a glimpse of a V12 badge on the trunk lid, although it was in motion so I didn’t get a great look.

In California I’m starting to see gray on black license plates. There’ve been yellow on black plates that have come back to be offered for a fee by the DMV — a retro look conjuring plates that were last issued in the early 1960s. But this is different. Here are two pictures from the web of the gray on black plates:

I haven’t seen them often, but today I saw two cars with them. On one car at the bottom of the plate was printed BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL.

They aren’t an option when selecting personalized plates from the DMV: Special Interest License Plates - California DMV.

As shown in the web pics they are wraps that one can buy. I wonder if these are driving the DMV and LEOs crazy.

That color has a long-standing nickname: Statutory Grape.

LOL! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

A 2023 Cadillac CT6 400 SUV — owned by a friend with connections. His is metallic gray. These are web pics

I met him for breakfast yesterday. His Caddy is beautiful.

DeLorean is at CES Las Vegas! These pics are from an FB friend.

That looks like a prop from a cheesy '70s SciFi movie.

First person to say flux capacitor gets punched in the ****.

Not much of a bumper. And do the wheels do more than spin?
