I thought the Crossfire was a nice car design and it was a shame when they stopped selling it.
Reminds me of Jill’s car on Home Improvement (a chevy nomad). I remember watching this scene with my dad.
Close. '57 Nomad, which indeed was part of the Bel Air line.
And here’s the Charger’s new paint job.
According to the for sale sign, it’s a '74 Charger SE with a 360 cu in V8. And looking at it up close, it looks like a pretty cheap paint job. I spotted at least one bubble in the paint around those side windows, and there’s a ton of overspray on the gas tank, suspension, and even on the left rear tire. And they didn’t even bother masking off the trunk lock; they just painted over it. And the chrome parts still look pretty dull. And it looks like they didn’t touch the interior; it still looks kind of ratty. The owner pretty obviously just made some cheap cosmetic improvements to try to flip it.
Something’s not right. The support in the middle of the side window is vertical; on the Nomad it’s slanted backwards. There’s something called the Chevy 210 that seems to match the body perfectly.
The chrome trim looks right for a Bel Air, though. The Bel Air had a big piece of chrome between the upper and lower sections of trim, which that car appears to have. On the 210 that section was painted (often times a different color from the rest of the car, but still paint rather than chrome). Of course, it’s possible someone put Bel Air trim on a 210. But that car also looks like a '57, not a '56, so maybe that’s where the discrepancy comes from.
Yeah, that has to be it: '57 Handyman 210 with '57 Nomad trim.
Here’s another one:
That Charger is the consummate “20 footer”. I’ve run across some cars where the seller just tried to spray bomb the engine without even the crudest attempt at masking things off ( let alone some disassembly ) and even painting right over built-up greasy crud.
“Resale Red” as car guy wags like to call it.
A Rivian R1T in olive drab. Is that a stock color? AndI think the Rivian badges were gold colored, not silver. It looks great.
And then not 5 minutes later, a Jeep Gladiator in olive drab. And that looks great too.
I saw an R1S today in Launch Green.
I also saw one of these over over weekend, first one for me.
Yes it turns out that the one I saw was also Launch Green. It was my first time seeing that color. It looked sharp.
This weekend I saw an early '80’s Olds 98 coupe sitting in a driveway that I drove past.
Then I ended up a few cars behind a yellow Lambo that was just itching to drive but he couldn’t get open road in front of him; every time a car turned there would be another creepy-crawly that turned onto the road just before the one that turned off. I eventually moved up being right behind him. He had a homemade license plate in that it was Euro style but the ‘country’ was a US state & it was in the color scheme of said state. Would that be legal? all of the proper letters & numbers & color scheme but in a different shape than the standard US rectangle? Sorry, didn’t get close enough to measure actual letter dimensions.

Speaking of rebadged Fords, I saw a (new) Maverick pick-em up this evening. Besides being bright Cyber Orange it wasn’t all that special, again except for the plate. It was “N GOOSE”
Just went outside to bring in the empty trash toters as a yellow vehicle with a green roof drove by. Looked like a '53 or '54 Chevy, and appeared to be in great condition. The Lafayette Kroozers are having a cruise-in at the local Sonic on Saturday, so perhaps the owner was airing out his “baby” in preparation for the event.
The most interesting vehicle I saw on this nice-weathered day is a guy rockin’ his Penny-farthing on the path along the river.
On the highway yesterday I was passed by Lotus Evora. As soon as the nose got in my peripheral vision I knew it was something out of the ordinary.
Today while waiting for a tire swap at the dealer I saw a line of 8 Subaru Solterras, the first ones I’ve seen in the real life.
I’ve seen a couple of them. The lack of a typical grille did my head in until I realized that it wasn’t needed.
Reminds me of something the other day but didn’t think to snap a picture at the time. I have no clue as to what it was, it certainly wasn’t one of those Subarus. Looked much more like a Squareback version of the VW ID.Buzz.
That’s the current design queue to indicate EV. The grills on most cars aren’t really functional anyways, since many cars breath through a scoop below, but they indicate radiator to most people.
Yesterday I saw a Porsche Boxster Spyder, a beautiful car. But this one was in blue and I hadn’t seen that color before. With yellow brake calipers. It was on the highway and when he was passing its exhaust note sounded really good.
