What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Can I brag a little about mine? I see this car every day.

It’s a 2014 JGC CRD - Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.0L V-6 Diesel engine (CRD = Common-Rail Diesel). I bought it a little over a year ago and, despite a few bugs (first year of manufacture) I have been very happy with it. This rig has a comfortable, almost luxurious ride; much quieter than my last car (2001 Honda CR-V, a noisy ride); long range on a single tank (500-700 miles depending on how lead your foot is); with 420 pounds-feet of torque it can tow 7,400 pounds and it has decent power; and it is quite capable offroad for a stock 4X4 rig. It has Jeep’s Quadra-Lift suspension, for some additional air adjustable height.

On top of all that it gets excellent fuel economy:

● 24 MPG @ 85 MPH
● 28 MPG @ 75 MPH
● 34 MPG @ 65 MPH
● 45 MPG @ 55 MPH

So yeah, I’m really happy with it. I started a thread about it here: Good Fuel Economy in my Diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee - In My Humble Opinion - Straight Dope Message Board

OK I love my new rig and wanted to post this, but don’t want to derail this thread.

Saw an old Buick Wilcat with 24’s on it. Looked like a 1965 model. Couldn’t understand why people were passing him on a 60 mph highway until I got up close. The front steering geometry was so jacked out of shape I think he was having problems controlling it. Both front wheels had serious negative camber. Whether you like or hate the rims it couldn’t be fun to drive.

Wagon wheels, that’s what I call those. Are they called by any other name?

A black MG Midget on I-280 in Palo Alto. 1974 I think.

1958-60 Chevy Impala four door, in powder blue. Sitting in the parking lot of a Dunkin Donuts.

Thanks Bullitt. Saw a gunmetal Lotus Elise yesterday on the way home from work. I’d happily drive on of those, or the 72 Europa Chip Foose did up a few years ago…

I saw a 1923 Locomobile Model 48 Sportif this afternoon at the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum in Hood River. Cool car, even cooler museum.

I finally saw a Chevy Volt.

I’ve seen an unusual number of Robin Reliants [holding up traffic] on the motorway the past couple of weeks.

The first sign of spring! Very rare over here.

On the way home last night, for a few miles I was following a DeLorean with a personalized plate reading “NOTIME”. It’s a pity the poor guy had to go with the base model, and couldn’t afford the flux capacitor option.

I also saw my first Tesla (Model S) on the roadways over the weekend. Pretty car.

That’s the one. Saw one of those at the racetrack a couple of weeks ago. It was well-used.

This 1914 Ford Model-T Speedster. In a Wells Fargo drive-thru.

At my local park, a father brings his daughter to baseball practice and they pulled up in an old sedan. I have no idea what it was but it was vintage 1945 or so. Pretty cool, they’re just heading to baseball practice.

There was a Lotus Elise parked behind a '55 MG.
Despite the posts in this thread, Teslas are not all that uncommon where I live. I saw one yesterday, & one passed me (I was on a bike) as I turned onto the big hill. Driver stomped the accelerator; that car’s got some giddyup!

My question is what do call the right pedal in an electric car? Is it still proper to call it a gas pedal or do you have to go all high falutin’ & snooty & call it an accelerator?
Worthy of an IMHO poll?

A black Citroen 15 parked in front of someone’s house: a daily driver, by the look of it, unrestored, but with original rego and in good shape. They’re such handsome cars.

Had a two-fre this afternoon, both within 10 miles from home, both “bucket list” cars…

First car;
At the three way intersection north of the York Maine Hannaford, the intersection to downtown York, an Ariel Atom!, black frame, black spoke wheels, so not a V8 Atom, and an orange “nose-boot” cover, license plate “ATOM”

Second car;
On the backroad heading home, a bright Ferrari-Red Jaguar E-type wire wheels, tan convertible top, an early classic model without the plastic covers over the headlight wells, absolutely gorgeous classic

I’m not sure which one made me happier to see, sure the Atom is an awesome car (and far, far smaller than I expected), but the Jag, well, the Jag is just pure perfection, there’s no angle it doesn’t look good at, and the styling is timeless, it makes a wonderful noise, and if the Forza 4 simulation is even remotely accurate, it has a fluidity and balance to the handling that is just pure driving nirvana

The only way this day could be any more perfect is if I got to see a Ferrari F40…

Maybe it’s time for another drive

Brand new Dodge Viper, cherry red, sitting at a stop light on my bike ride today.

Red MGB, 1967 vintage. A clean running car.

And then, gag me, a hot pink Nissan Juke. One of the ugliest cars on the road today, and it’s in hot pink. Like this Pink Puke:

Not a fan of the Juke.

In my form of racing, the accelerator is often nicknamed “the go pedal”. Works for me.
