I saw a Lucid yesterday. I quite liked it. Today though, a Lambo Aventador. What the heck is that car even doing in Minnesota? Well, the speed limit, I guess. There was a cop nearby.
It might be a wrap job.
At the moment I am manning a booth at Rose City Comic Con, looking at Baby from “Supernatural”. Her trunk is open and the weapons are displayed.
Very possibly, it did seem more matte (matte-er) than you’d expect. It almost looked, for lack of a better word, dry. That’s part of what caught my attention, it didn’t seem like that texture could produce that much iridescence.
Yes, I’ve seen similar matte wrap jobs. I think they are beautiful.
As for cars today, I’d have trouble picking one. I managed to attend an Italian car show. So which car to pick? The 1926 Ford, with the Alfa engine that looked like it was born to fit in that Ford. He did a beautiful install.
Then there was the Lancia Beta coupe with a World Rally Championship sticker and no rust. There were also Panteras, Lambos, Ferrari, and lots of two-wheeled representation from Lambretta to Bimota, Piaggio, Moto Guzzi, etc. I was very pleasantly surprised by the variety that dares brave Minnesota weather.
::swoon::
I was out in western Mass this weekend and saw lots of older trucks and pickups - mostly from the 40s and 50s. And just as we were leaving we were passed in the opposite direction by a convoy of 1960s Land Rovers.
the beta was a weird beast …
there were some truely classic 70ies/80ies sports cars:

and then there was:

truly weird family of models here …
A GMC Hummer EV pickup! Spotted by a friend who then texted his picture to me. This thing is massive.
At 1.5m/kwh, can I coin the phrase ‘electron eater’?
Good one. Yes, it’s a guzzler for sure.
On the other hand, at 15¢/kwh, that works out to about 30 miles for $3.00, which is about triple the distance you’d get for $3.00 worth of gas in an ICE Hummer.
Cool. I guess guzzling can be relative, right?
So, not 24 hours after my friend texted me that photo…
Spotted just now in Sunnyvale CA: the brand new GMC Hummer EV. Many of you may already know this. I had to look some of it up…
It’s a pure electric, not a hybrid, and it comes either as a pickup truck or an SUV. I’ve been looking for these to come out and today I spotted my first. These are brand-spanking new. I passed him at an intersection but my phone was in its holder. I flipped a u-ee and chased him down, and followed him onto the freeway.
Note: when driving I shoot pictures in burst mode. That way my eyes are on the road about 98% of the time.
With 3 motors it has up to 1,000(!) horsepower (the SUV is up to 830 hp), up to 11,500 lb-ft of torque for both, and up to 389 miles range (314 miles in the SUV). For 0-60 mph it’s about 3 seconds.
MSRP = $100 with a 50% markup, so it’s $150,000 plus tax out the door.
Talk about opulence.
Info sources are from the GMC site, and Felix the salesman at Moore GMC in Los Gatos at 408-356-8111, ext 1.
I haven’t seen it myself, but here’s another unusual EV that we might be seeing soon.
That is fabulous. Thanks for sharing!
