I believe this is a Nissan Fairlady Z (1983-2000) right hand drive import from Japan. It has a Japanese plate next to the MA plate.
Never mind, I thought I found a way to differentiate between ones manufactured in Japan and ones manufactured elsewhere but I’m probably wrong.
In the way back from picking up some lunch, I saw a Tesla. (‘Na, und?’) Its license plate was EW GAS.
I saw a hybrid F-150. From what I can tell, they’ve been around for a year or two, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one.
Between a hybrid F-150 and the Lightening, how long before they discontinue the ICE F-150?
You mean the best selling vehicle in the US for the last 34 years? It’ll be a while, yet.
I’ve been on jury duty all week this week. Yesterday, I left the courthouse for lunch and saw an orange VW Karmann Ghia with whitewall tires drive by. Today when I left the courthouse at lunch time what had to have been the same orange Karmann Ghia with whitewall tires drove by again.
But that was only the most interesting car I saw yesterday, because this morning on the way to court I saw a Rivian R1S (their SUV). I’ve seen I couple of Rivian pickups around, but I’m pretty sure this was the first time I spotted an SUV.
At the supermarket tonight I spotted a Saturn SC2. Pretty fly for a Tuperware Torpedo.
I was pulling into a parking lot this evening, and saw what I’m fairly sure was a 1964 Dodge Dart station wagon drive by and park a few rows away. It didn’t look pristine, it appeared to have a little rust around the wheel wells, and it was dark so there may have been other flaws I couldn’t see. But it was cool to see it being used as possibly a daily driver. After I parked I started walking over to take a picture, only to realize I didn’t have my phone with me; it was at home charging. D’oh!
Also I saw two more Rivians this morning, another SUV which was a different color from the one I saw yesterday, and a light green pickup I believe I’ve seen around here before.
And the same orange Karman Ghia drove past the courthouse as I was leaving for a third time (which will be the last, as my jury service is now over).
A well kept blue Toyota Land Cruiser of roughly the same vintage was there on Thursday. Unlike the Porsche, the Toyota was obviously for sale.
I’m on a road trip. I’ve seen a few…
A Karma Revero, on the freeway. First time setting one on the freeway. I’ve test driven one. They’re nice.
Chevy Corvair on the freeway. If I’ve ever seen one in the freeway before, it would have had to be many many years ago.
A Plymouth Prowler. They look badass.
An aircooled VW Microbus pickup truck. It was the extended cab version.
That spoiler looks like something you’d buy at Autozone and hope it fits your car.
It does.
On I-15 north of Las Vegas yesterday I passed a 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood. What a boat that thing was. Many cars were, back then. This one was in good shape.
Yesterday we saw a bright red mid-'60s Chevy. I don’t remember if it was an Impala, or an El Camino. (Angle was wrong.) It was across the road from our turn to get to Blaine. Someone in a pickup smashed it on the driver’s side, and there were emergency vehicles all around.
I saw two interesting cars today.
First, in my neighborhood an elderly couple was driving a Mercury Milan. I can’t remember this model at all. It’s also the most nondescript car ever. No wonder it had such a limited production.
I then saw a Mercedes EQB 300 on the freeway. It’s an electric SUV that doesn’t shout that it’s electric. Looks like just another car unless you’re a car person.
That’s a good description. I’ve seen a couple of these around town.
And today I saw an Acura TSX Sport Wagon. Those were pretty rare in the US even when they were new. IIRC they were essentially a rebadged European market Honda Accord.
This morning I saw a Pontiac Astre, the much rarer cousin of the Chevy Vega (Not that either are common nowadays). It had been turned into a hot rod; the hood had been removed and a chromed up V8 crammed into the engine bay, so the body was likely the only think on that car that was original. Oh, and it was the wagon body style, so I’m kind of continuing the wagon theme, although that was far from that car’s most interesting feature.
