It’s just a GM variant SUV from that era. Rarer than Chevy or GMC but I knew exactly what it was, even remembered the model name w/o looking.
I used to see Bravadas fairly regularly, must have lived near an Olds dealership.
A BMW Z3 M Coupé
The BMW Z3 M Coupé was manufactured 1997-2002 and built at BMW Spartanburg in South Carolina. This car is over 20 years old. Its close sibling, the M Roadster (convertible), had over 15,000 built and sold, but for the M Coupé, sales were slow, and it was manufactured in far fewer numbers. So, M Coupés are quite uncommon these days.
And is that a Citroen DS next to it? Someone clearly likes oddball foreign cars (well, oddball by US standards; I’m sure these were both fairly common in other countries).
Always liked that M3 Coupe’. It looked a little odd but it was light, had 330 hp, and plenty of luggage room behind the seats for a road trip.
The Z3 M Coupé with the S54 engine (the larger 3.2L straight 6 with 11.5:1 compression ratio and ETC, electronic throttle control), was manufactured in low quantities. Only 1,112 were sold worldwide. These are especially rare and highly desirable. It is one of the lowest production BMWs ever.
You should get one @Capn_Carl !
I always like the look, but it was nicknamed “clown shoe” for a reason.
I got to put some miles on a Z3 roadster, and that was a fun little car, but I’ve never been a fan of driving convertibles, so the coupe seemed perfect to me.
shoe was my first association when I saw the pic, too …
… and that might have been the main reason, they sold so few of them (spending $$$$ for a sporty car that is being associated with footwear)
Yes its styling was a little ungainly back then.
My son and I were out and about last week and pulled up behind… something. We didn’t recognize it.
My son took a quick pic of it and googled it, it turns out it was a Fiat 124 Spider. This was something I didn’t know existed. Well, I knew the original existed, but not this new one. Kind of a cool car if you’re into the small convertible segment. Discontinued, of course.
The “new” Fiat Spider was pretty much a Mazda Miata with slightly different bodywork and a different engine. That interior, in particular, is all Mazda, right down to Mazda’s unique infotainment controls on the center console.
Known as the Fiata.
This morning, in a parking lot on a trailer I saw something I never saw before, a Marsh Master, looks like it might be one of their rentals.
Then at a light I saw a Subaru EV, it’s a Solterra & another vehicle I never saw before; looks like it’s a rebadged Toy-odor bZ4x, which is essentially an EV RAV4
Makes me wonder if someone tried putting treads on a DUKW and ended up with that.
This was a lot shorter; no more than ½ the length of a Duck boat, which were repurposed DUKWs
I thought somebody might have had the idea to put tracks on one of those, discovered that’s impossible, and created this all-new, smaller, thing.
They are the same vehicle developed by both Toyota and Subaru. Had an unfortunate proclivity to loose their wheels. Who knew cars could be so hard?
Oh man I wish Subaru just made an electric Outback. That would be the perfect form factor for me. Instead we get shitty SUVs/CUVs. Actually the Canoo LV would be the perfect form factor for me. Hyundai Ionic 5 is a close second.
