What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Would be a good application. My plow has LED lights for reverse along with the regular back up lights, and 4 lights on the front. I very much doubt that a new EV Hummer is going any where near a plow blade.

A plow takes a shit ton of electric energy, unless it’s driven by hydraulics from the engine. Which isn’t gonna happen on an EV.

@Telemark why are we quoting in a soon-to-be-obsolete value instead of a more modern term? MPE(lectron)? MPV(olt)?

Except for the Amish & some people who work in historical touristy areas like Colonial Williamsburg how many people really know what a horsepower is? Yet we quote engine size as a comparison from the 1800s. It probably made sense for early engines/autos but it sure doesn’t in modern times.

No love for EMS?

No. The red things are tie downs not plow attachements. (If you zoom in, you can see the round roof lights mounted in the rear)

Tow hooks. Very common for off roading. Any decent SUV should have at least one on front and back (a hitch is fine for the back).

I imagine the guy is looking for a winch for it. May not be developed yet.

Porsche 911 Carrera T

I haven’t seen it yet, but a neighboring suburb just bought this fire truck:

The interesting thing is that they originally bought it in 1927, sold it at some point and then just recently they tracked it down and re-purchased it.

Also in the “I haven’t seen it yet” department is this monstrosity. The city of Milwaukee paid $88,000, not including the maintenance it already requires, for this, in hopes that it will get people to stop driving recklessly. Maybe the punishment should be that you have to use it instead of your own car for a few months.

Here’s the mayor following up on his promise to do something about the reckless driving problem.

NM - dupe

On the original (military) Hummer, they were tie-downs, for when they were being transported. We use them as tie offs for the (hot air) balloon, either to ensure it doesn’t fly away before we’re ready or for tethers where we’re not leaving the field & typically tied to three vehicles.

I get it’s cones on the roof but what is on the sides/hood of that vehicle?

I saw them later!

Providence RI Fire Rescue EMS ➜

Gotcha. Works both ways I suppose. We always use them to pull cars out, or get pulled out. No Hummer here. Have had two trucks, a jeep and …3 SUV’s.

I think maybe cut up cones and other random plastic, maybe?

And all that plastic is going to be a disgusting mess of thick black smoke when it gets hit by a speeding car and catches on fire.

Yesterday was a blue early 70s Barracuda ,with the top down.

Today is a tough decision, a candy apple red mid-80s 911 with the top down & a whale tale or a red Jag XKE, with the top down.

Can you tell we had some beautiful weather?

Deuce and a Quarter.

Yeah, for off-roading. We call them ditch lights, so you can see down in the ditch next to you.

Pretty much what @enipla said (below). I’m going to mount some on my Subaru Outback but keep them closer to the A pillars so there won’t generate as much wind noise.

It also had a different set of lights behind the hood, right in front of the glass. I can’t help but think the corner lights, both the front ambers & the big round ones at the back of the roof are both noisy & affect drag as they’re both large & in awful places.

Today’s was an Aston Martin DB12, metallic grey with bright red caliper covers on the 21" (!) wheels. It looked fast parked in the parking lot!

The other day in Upstate New York I saw an MG Midget parked in front of a berry farm. In Upstate New York and New England, with the weather still good here, I’m seeing several people enjoying their convertibles before winter sets in. I’m here for a couple more days in my old stomping grounds before flying home to San Francisco.

The disease. It’s spreading.

Yesterday a CyberTruck spotted in Providence RI on Federal Hill.

I just saw my first EV Hummer as well. It was bright orange and the plate was NOPULP. I’m not sure if there’s a reference there beyond ‘my car is orange so I made an orange juice reference’. That might be all it is.

No, P U!

A propane hummer?
