No pictures, but on Tuesday I spotted a Toyota Solara in parked on the opposite side of the highway in the breakdown lane. The interesting part was that the front end was completely engulfed in flames.
Also I spoted a Pontiac Fiero - I can’t believe they were last produced in 1988.
This morning I saw a Smart Car with stickers on the doors and rear that read “Team-JD Racing”. Which makes me wonder, do they actually race Smart Cars, or does the car just belong to some member of the team? Actually… Smart Car racing sounds kind of fun. I imagine it being kind of like go-kart racing.
ETA: I Googled them, and there appears to be both a NASCAR team and an Italian Formula 1 team that use that name, so I assume the driver was just a fan of one of them (most likely the NASCAR one).
I don’t think I’ve ever posted to this long running thread but I may win the internet today.
The most interesting car I saw today was a Tesla Cybertruck trying to parallel park in Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood. Not only that, but it was a recently purchased Cybertruck with a temporary tag.
This is a very densely populated area, I didn’t enjoy parallel parking a PT Cruiser when I had a car. I can’t imagine this person parallel parking such a beast.
I’d just gone across the street to grab junk food, but when I came back home a few minutes later, they were still trying to park that monstrosity.
I don’t think this is correct? Currently only Ferrari and Racing Bulls are Italian Formula 1 teams, and I don’t recognise that name from any previous years either?
Yesterday, as I was leaving the California Capital Airshow I was in line behind this Fisker Ocean, an electric SUV:
Today I saw this very nice early 1990s Ford Ranger. I always enjoy seeing ordinary vehicles from decades ago that are still being driven, especially when they’re as nice as this one. And that’s a very '90s shade of green, too.
Yesterday in San Francisco I saw for the first time, out in the wild, my first Porsche 911 Dakar. It was clad in the Roughroads racing livery, and without the roof rack. Unfortunately it was a brief sighting. He was oncoming in fast moving city street traffic, and I could not double back to get another look, let alone snap a picture.
That was my first sighting in the wild. About two months ago I saw one for the first time ever, in a dealership. I’m pretty sure I posted about that here, including some of these pictures.
On the drive to work this morning I was behind a VW Eurovan VR6, which was made from 1996-2003. It looks like it was in great shape, and a daily driver.
