What's the most interesting car you saw today?

I once had a Diesel 1983 VW Vanagon - a 1.6L Diesel engine that was a true dog. 0-60 in about 3 minutes. On a good day.

Chatted with the owner a bit-he takes the car to Florida every winter.
A question: back in the 1970s, a small Massachusetts company converted Renault R-5 cars to electric -they called the cars the “Electric leopard”; anyone ever seen one?

The best way to keep warm in a survival situation and with no external heat source is for both to strip off their clothes and cuddle under a blanket. To share body heat.

Just saying.

I saw a 944 the other day that depressed the Hell outta me. I remember when that car was new & this one had antique plates on it. :frowning:

Well, it matched your username. :stuck_out_tongue:

When I was in high school, my mom had a Chevette. She called it the “Little Blue Putt-Putt”.

I learned to drive in it.

Would you lean forward while accelerating, like I did in the 'Vette, to give it some extra oomph? Muttering “c’mon, c’mon, c’mon” under the breath also seemed to help.

Cheaper than an Ariel Atom, too. I actually would love to see how well it would do in the winter. Gear up like you would a ski-doo, add a heated helmet and you’re off to the races!

We already have those, they’re called Harleys.

Ah yes, we’d take my old boyfriend’s Vanagon out onto the highway into town and it woud finally hit 55 mph when we reached the sign telling us to slow down to 45 mph. Even the town cop said we’d never get a speeding ticket.

yes but it’s much cheaper than a Harley trike and way more fun to drive. You can’t drive it with the traction control turned off because it just smokes the back tire.

I drove a 2015 Stingray Vette today. Very impressive acceleration, handling and they FINALLY got the interior right! Good job, GM! IT only took you what, thirty years to make a decent Vette since the 1960’s?

This one.

Laughed out loud, I did.

Congrats to KIA for reviving this! I alwsys loved two-color cars-this one had a brown body and a white roof-hope other mfgs catch this trend!

An Audi 200 Avant, 3rd body style so probably late 80’s. It was in remarkably good shape, very angular compared to the current crop of cars.

A Hummer. Haven’t seen any tooling around the neighborhood in years but I get the low gas prices are bringing them out of storage.

An early 60’s model with nearly horizontal tailfins. After doing a Google Image search it may have been a Chevy Impala. What other cars from that era had broad, nearly horizontal tailfins?

The Impala is the only on I can think of off the top of my head.

Chevy Biscayne also had horizontal tail fins but the look was quite different.

A 1st-gen Mazda RX-7.

Also a Chevy Bel Air convertible. Very nice.

A Ferrari F430 and a Bentley Continental GT. This was the first time I’ve ever witnessed a Bentley in the wild (i.e. not on Top Gear).

I also saw a very interesting Ford Escape that tried to drive past a school bus with its red lights flashing while there were two cops standing right there in the middle of the road, but that was more interesting for the abject stupidity of the driver than the car itself.
