What's the most interesting car you saw today?

This weekend, white Maserati Ghibli with a big ol’ Buddha sitting on the dash.

This morning, '67 Impala (pretty sure) in great shape, blue body with black striping on the hood.

Aixam Mega?

It was yesterday but can I play anyway? I wish l had a clue what it was but I the logo was strange to me–it was simply a large “W”. If I hadn’t been driving I would have taken some photos.

In appearance it looked somewhat like a 1950s Chevy Bel-Air, two doors, same color hardtop (deep red in this case), and no pillars between the front and rear side windows.

An Alfa Romeo Graduate convertible, with the top down, on Oct 19 in Boston.

No photo, and I only saw the [fast]back end of it sticking out of a bay in a repair shop…a 1966 Charger. Haven’t seen one of those in a long time…very cool.

Sounds like a Willy’s Bermuda.

A pair of old Isuzu I-mark sedans in someone’s driveway.

Having just googled, it might well have been one, although if so the logo on the back is different from what I’m seeing on Google.

Also, I just remembered that the tail/brake lights seemed very small. I’m thinking they might have been modified later by an owner who wanted to have barely-legal lights. This wasn’t a lowrider, though, as far as I could tell.

Something like this maybe: 1953 Willys-Overland Aero Ace Custom Sedan 'HX11631' 3 | Flickr a different model with the logo and small tailights.

In any case I’ve never seen a W in the wild, I’d have posted that too.

Saw a Subaru Brat today with the rear facing seats with the handgrips in place. No rust, very clean, very cool.

Cool. Until now I’d never heard of the Willys Bermuda. I looked it up. Here’s an image of the car. And here are images of the Willys logo.

Highly collectible, they say, one year of production and kind of an oddity - the Jeep people made a Bel Air. I don’t know if it’s flamboyant enough for my garage though.

It was a mega, super expensive looking sports car (not good on makes or models sorry) parked outside the grottiest looking house in a very run down part of town.

Sure you weren’t playing Grand Theft Auto?

While I was getting ATF for my car I saw a slammed 66 Cadillac sedan de ville in a really cool metallic aqua-ish colour and a really nice pinstripe accents in navy and white. The car looked almost stock except for the fact it was flat on the ground. I didn’t get to see it drive so I don’t know if he was running hydraulic or air ride but it was a sweet looking ride.

Today is a throwback day – I saw 2 vehicles from my youth today.

I first saw a Yamaha Heritage Special motorcycle, the ‘650 Special’. The XS650SK (or 650 XS-SK) was the first motorcycle I ever owned. Mine was a 1983 that I bought in 1985, and I put 49,000 miles on it and then sold it in Lawton OK in the summer of 1990 for $650 to some guy named Lynn (IIRC). Lynn, I hope that bike served you well like it did for me.

I rode it to Fort Sill (Lawton) from San Francisco, for attending a 3-month artillery class at Fort Sill. With its 3.1-gallon tank and its 50 MPG, that 650 could go 150 miles on a tank, but in the wide open expanses along I-40 on that 1,600-mile ride to Oklahoma, I stopped for gas about every 125 miles. It wasn’t the most comfortable cross-country cruiser, and at times it was painful on that long ride. Ahh, youth.

I sold it because a retiring USMC Warrant Officer was selling his 1983 BMW R80RT, and I bought that from him. I could never afford a BMW, even the used ones in San Francisco were too expensive, but Warrant Officer Johnson kindly cut me a break on the price. Thank you, Warrant Officer Johnson! My ride home back home to San Francisco was downright luxurious. I bought your bike with about 60,000 miles on it, and put another 80,000 miles on it in 5 years before selling it for another bike in 1995.

And then just a few minutes ago I saw a 1969 Buick Skylark which was a car my parents owned when I turned 16. I am the oldest sibling and so was the first of the kids to turn 16 and drive, and both parents had newer cars, so in essence that Skylark was all mine to drive. Good memories! In West Hartford CT, I drove my girlfriend (her name was Andrea) all over, lots of dates and movies and good memories from my youth.

Great memories from both vehicles, from the 1970s in that Skylark and the 1980s on that 650 Special.

Bugatti Veyron. I wanted to throw myself at it.

Two days, two 1969 Buick Skylarks! Both seen in San Francisco, today’s was a red one and yesterday’s was a blue one. Both were 2-door models. Pretty cool, to me anyway.

A red Jeep Comanche pickup, which was last made in 1992. At minimum, it was 25 years old and looked pretty good for its age.
