My whole life, I never paid attention to cars. But my 13 year old son is obsessed with them, so EVERY day (or close to it) he sees and points out cool cars I would have ignored.
So, these days, I see interesting cars constantly. I even notice them when my son isn’t around!
The most interesting one we saw yesterday was a souped up early Sixties Corvette.
My editing bay is inside one of the hottest music rehearsal stage buildings in Los Angeles, with wealthy famous musicians showing up all the time, so I arrive at work to find amazing cars pretty often. But this is the most interesting I’ve seen.
It’s an electric car of some sort (it was plugged in on the other side that I didn’t photograph). The badge reads “Sports Rider”. I can’t find much info about it online. One page that has a tiny bit of information on it is here, but even it says there’s not too much known about it. Apparently it was made by Kelsen Manufacturing, but there’s not much info about them either. No Wikipedia page.
Disappearing into garages & being put up, yes. Blocks I’m not so sure about. I was walking down the street when I walked past a house with an open garage & the light on. Oh there’s a Model A…wait, what?
Just how did they get that in there, & any guess as to what the other car is?
On the way into work I was next to a blue Maserati Quattroporte at a light. On the way home I was next to a white Wiattroporte at a stop. I’ve not seen many Maz’s in the wild. Was cool to see two today up close.
I saw the first Maserati I’ve ever seen in the wild that I know of. A Ghibli. Funny thing was that I wouldn’t have even noticed it if I hadn’t been behind it at a stoplight for a while. I noticed the badge on the back after driving beside and behind it for a couple miles.
Last week on the way to work, I was driving alongside a brand new Jeep and suddenly realized it was right hand drive. No markings or special plates (regular, local plates) so it wasn’t a mail delivery vehicle. Looked too new and fancy for that as well.
Those will never be common, but we’ll see a good number of them in the future as they turn 25 and can legally be imported.
I saw a fairly rare car this morning: a Dodge Mirada. I’ve not seen one of those in the wild since the 1980s. They were only made for a few years and didn’t sell all that well so to see one parked on the street is truly a rare occurrence.
Yesterday I saw an insanely cool looking Aston Martin parked in front of the Panera I was going into. I’m not familiar enough with their models to know what it was, but I think the vanity plates said DB9, so I assume that’s what it was. So sexy.
