What's the name of this electronica "instrument"?

There’s got to be a name for this, uh, noise. Or instrument. Or type of sound that a synthesizer makes. Check out this video, and it kicks in at the 0:28 mark. It’s the sort of industrial type of sound that is sort of like a record scratching.

I just want to know what that sound is called, and I have no idea how to google it.

As far as I can tell it’s just referred to as scratching sound effect or record scratching sound effect or needle scratching sound effect. (I googled scratching sound effect.)

Probably a digital sample of a longer sound. Could be anything.

It seems like a very common sound in that genre of music, so I just kind of assumed that there was a specific name for it. Like, there’s all kinds of effects for guitars, down to the classic wah-wah pedal.

Color me disappointed if it’s just called “angle grinder melody #4.” But I guess even that would be a little more satisfying than “a sample of something.”

Are you talking about the wobble? Or is there some sort of scratching sound I can’t hear. The scratch-sound is typically a high-pitched zipping sound. Wobble is usually a lower wub-wub sound followed by some kind of break inbetween the wub-wubs.

It’s probably produced with an analog synth, or a simulation of one. Here’s someone who remade that song with the same sounds:

They link to downloads of the individual patches for the Native Instruments Massive software synth.
