What's the one place you've been to that no other Doper has visited?

Damn right , I drank it

Went there for a work Christmas party in 1986. Almost drove off the road in the snow storm on my way home.

AR_Crane…

I did three weeks of Battle refresher at Gitmo…

Got arested by Shore Patrol TWICE…neither was really my fault. One for being in the EM’s club when a fight broke out over the 1982 world series…i left as brawl started but SP though i was in on it…NOT…second was for cliff diving, ok, i was guilty there…ahhh Gitmo…gotta love the goats and Iguanas.

Pssst… it’s A.R. Cane if you’re hoping for a VSPU (vanity search pick up)

Not in them but almost directly above them…thats where my bunk was

Ever been in the sonar dome, lowest most forward point of the ship? or the SPQ9 radar dome somewhere around the o7-8 level…used to hang out up there cause i could…and the ASROC rover would never find you if’n you wanted to have an exotic smoke…

ummm thanks, i think, but A.R. and I knew what I meant…I’m not the VSPU kinda guy…

Has anyone here been to La Turbie, France?

What interesting thing is there.[/QUOTEYes, several times while I was homeported at Villefranche-sur-Mer, next to Nice with the US Navy for nearly two years. *La Trophee des Alpes *, built by the Romans to commemorate the taking of that area by their forces. One day I walked from there to Villefranche via the haut corniche.
How about Marblehead, IL, Marblehead, OH, and Marblehead, MA, all in the same week? Had I known about the lime pit called Marblehead, WI, back then (1973) I’d have gone there, too.

I’ve been there - enjoyed it greatly until about 10:30 am when the tourist buses pulled up.
I’ve never been to Midway Island, but I work with folks who are doing the Hawaiian Monk Seal protection project out there - trying to keep the pups safe (especially females) for their first winters. Unfortunately, it’s not succeeding and when they presented a slide show on it a month ago, one mentioned that the population is decreasing at about 3% a year. We can reasonably expect that without major intervention, the Hawaiian Monk Seal will be extinct by 2040. :frowning:
How about the community center in El Portal, CA? Or anyplace in El Portal that’s not on 140?

No, but Split, Dubrovnik, and Cavtat in Croatia, back then it was Yugoslavia.

Ooh, missed this one - I helped bring a class of sixth graders there several years ago on a field trip. Cool place, especially the little fake inner pyramid crypt. I’ve always thought the Rosicrucians a bit odd, though.

Been there, done that. It’s between Blue Ball and Ecstasy, BTW. Been there too.

On the *USS Miller * (DD-535) from Boston to San Juan, PR, thru a storm off Cape Hatteras, N, resulting in the next stop - in drydocks at San Juan, PR (for several days), and later (on different ship) in Toulon, FR (for several weeks); In the harbor at Villefranche-sur-Mer, FR (in and out for two years). (The USS Miller was named after black Pearl Harbor hero Dorie Miller).

On the California Zephyr from San Francisco to Chicago

I’ve been to Alcobaca, and the nearby Batalha monastery as well.

None of the other places, but I’ve been to Graeagle, CA - seems like a place for retirees who like golf and one or two expensive restaurants. I visited a friend who worked in Plumas-Eureka State Park a few times, and we almost ate dinner in Graeagle, but it would have been too pricey.

Been both places. I figured someone would have been at Ephesus, but that was going to be my best chance.

Um… I was on a ship that sailed through the Hellespont (the Dardanelles).

Yeah, been there going from Sault Ste. Marie to Sudbury. In that vein, Britt, Ontario anyone?

Was just at the Tundra Communities walk off of the Trail Ridge Road in the Rocky Mountain NP. Anyone else?

I’ve been on this train, but we got off in Reno.
