I’ll even toss out Red Oak, Texas or Rockett, Texas.
Both just north of Waxahachie, right? 99% sure I’ve at least been through 'em.
I’ve been everywhere, man!

Never been to Swarmsville, Franklinville, or Wellsville. Never even heard of them.
How about Mexico, Victory, or Ontario?
Itacare, Bahia, Brazil . Flippin’ awesome coast, Capoiera, and Caparinias.
I’ve been there, too. You’ve got great taste in beaches. Itacare is, indeed, gorgeous.
I’ve also been to the Bahia Landless Movement colony near Cachoeira, in Bahia, Brazil. I’m a bit curious to know if anyone else has been there.
How about Lorokachi (sometimes spelled “Lorocachi,”) or Jatun Playa de Lorocachi, in Ecuador, on the Pastaza? They’re both in areas that you have to take a military flight to get to. From the base at Lorokachi, you need to find someone to take you upriver by gasoline-powered canoe to get to Jatun Playa de Lorocachi. I’d be very, very curious to know if anyone else has been to these places.
El Cibao, towards the center of the Dominican Republic. Anyone here ever been anywhere in that region?
El Salvador’s San Antonio Pajonal, near the Guatemalan border. Population maybe 1,000 when I was there. I bet it’s grown in the intervening years. Beautiful.
Although the Corcovado wth its Christo Redentor and the Pau de Acucar with its cable car are breathtaking mountains in Rio de Janeiro that are visited by millions of tourists from across the world and hopefully many Dopers, most do not take the opportunity to climb the Pedra de Gavea at 842 meters. The only amenities that aid the ascent are a couple of rungs set in the rock and a lifesaving mountain spring.
Be forewarned, the 20 ear old mystic Carioca surfer you know that claims you can get up and back before lunch is either deliberatley misleading you or woefully mistaken. He will do it barefoot while everyone else will do it cursing.

You got it but what about the South Dakota stuff? I mean, hell, you’ve been everywhere, man! Back in my day, Red Oak had like fifty residents; Rockett had maybe ten or so. (Hyperbole, but not by much)

Sure! I’ve had my ass whacked repeatedly during Carnival in La Vega. And a friend of the family does an annual pilgrimmage to Jarabacoa.
Gitmo? Or Cuba, surely we’ve got someone who’s been to Cuba?
I’ve been to Gitmo.
Has anyone been to Inuvik, NWT, Canada? I was going to say the Teahouse at the Plain of Six Glaciers near Lake Louise, Alberta, but LL is a pretty popular tourist destination and a lot of those people are hikers.
Nope, although my cousin lived and taught school there and in Tuktoyaktuk for several years. I don’t think she’s a Doper. Been to the Teahouse, though.
How about the Diefenbunker? When it was the real thing back in the 70s, not the empty shell museum it is now (although I’ve been there, too).

Findhorn.
Heh, the good people who live at the Findhorn Foundation! I’ve camped at the caravan site a few times, and I love the fact that there are big signs with “Quiet: this is a contemplation area” around the place. The beach is great too, with all sorts of war bunkers.

Nope, can’t say I have. I can’t quite match Johnny Cash’s “I’ve Been Everywhere,” but I can do a fair Brian Burns’ “I’ve Been Everywhere (in Texas).” Speaking of which:
Guess he hasn’t been to Rockett, or he forgot. ![]()
How specific can we be? I was thinking there is a pretty small group of people who have been in the robot cells in the paint shop of Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit Michigan… Just me, a couple of other engineers, the electrician and the robot techs.
I don’t think that counts, otherwise we could have all sorts of offices, or people’s houses.
Following that theme though, if we can do specific locations, how about the special elevator near the entrance of the CIA headquarters in Langley, the one that you don’t have to go through security to get to? It only works with a key.
The problem with that is that if a CIA director or someone was a Doper, they probably wouldn’t respond. But still, it’s the most exclusive place I’ve been that I can think of. All the places I’ve been traveling are in the US, and any that are really obscure, I can’t necessarily think of a name for. There’s that cave…off of that road…
Gitmo? just the base, or the actual detention center that’s so controversial?

Just the base. I was there in '62, during the Soviet missle hubub.

I look forward to returning to Scotland some year soon.

I live in a bit of Perthshire that doesn’t get much in the way of coach parties, so most of the American tourists are young backpackers or older independent travellers. They are hugely welcome. The guy who owns my local buys loads of Ordnance Survey maps to give away to people who are travelling through.
Anyone been to South Bloomingville, Ohio?
I’ve been to both Mayville ND, and Mission Hill, SD with my family.
I’ve also been to Fullerton and Strasburg, ND and Fredrick, SD, anyone else?
Sure! I’ve had my ass whacked repeatedly during Carnival in La Vega. And a friend of the family does an annual pilgrimmage to Jarabacoa.
Indeed, that’s pretty much on the tourist trail (for those tourists who ever set foot outside their hotels, of course). I’ve driven through La Vega and been rafting from just outside Jarabacoa.

:dubious: Hmm, I think I’m going to have to ask for a cite. There’s no going “all over” there. You go through, you’re done.
Name a street. Name a store. Hell, name the dog.

I think 350, 286, 441 and the other one. Interesting fact about West Walworth: If you find yourself there in the dead of night on the way home from Sterling, your shortcut has not panned out.
I’ll bet no one has been to Bucksnort, South Dakota or to Tea, South Dakota. For that matter, I’ll throw in Mission Hill, South Dakota and Gayville, South Dakota.
I’ve been to Tea, but not the others. Have you ever been to Corson?
I have a pretty good one. Anyone besides me ever visited Nizhnekamsk?
Copperopolis, CA is the best I can do, I think.
I was in a bike race through there in the mid-90’s.
I’ll throw out the Selway River in Alaska; that’s the best I can think of now.
