What's this movie, please?

My husband got into a discussion with a friend yesterday, that turned into a ‘check the internet’ session, looking for the title of a movie they both remember seeing, but can’t identify.

At this point, he remembers having seen it on TV before he knew me, so it was possibly/probably mid-seventies. (There’s some possibility that it was a TV pilot that didn’t go anywhere.)
Anyway, its protagonist was a man who kept telling people he needed to get back to somewhere. At some point he met up with a journalist(?) who went along for the ride. A few adventures and setbacks, the most notable in a London casino where they went to gamble themselves into money for the trip. The protagonist was shooting craps, getting seven after seven, and the casino owners gave him loaded dice to slow down his winning streak. He took them, said they weren’t square, and with his hands, squared them up. Then he continued shooting winning dice numbers.
At the end of the movie, it’s revealed that he’s a robot, sent to help the human race survive(?) and he needed to get back to his place of origin in some cave somewhere, where the rest of the robots in his line are. (He might be the last of the line, or he might be needing to get back sooner than scheduled, because the environment/pollution/something is causing him to fail early.)

What do you say, Dopers? Can you help? I know it’s pretty thin, but I’ve seen you work magic with less. I’ll let you know if either of these guys wakes up in the middle of the night with a breakthrough.

You’re sure it’s not an episode of the Twilight Zone?

I vaguely remember the dice thing.

Gene Roddenberry’s The Questor Tapes (1974). When he’s gambling, he [android] says “Allow the money to accumulate.” The guy with him then translates for the. . . dice roller, “Let it ride”

Me too.

Now it’s going to bug the hell out of me. (Edit - or not.)

On the plus side, if it had taken off Mike Farrell would never have appeared on MASH*.

Joey P
That was the first thing I asked, but he says he’s pretty sure it’s not.

Earl Snake-Hips Tucker
He thinks that sounds like it might be it, and has sent a text message to the friend, to see if he agrees. Thank you.

YouTube!!!

And the Dope scores again!!!

Thank you all for making a couple of guys happy. They’ve found it on youtube and I think husband might be planning to watch it tonight. He’s already watched the scene with the dice.

You guys are amazing!

Didn’t they re-use the scene in Star Trek: TNG, with Data?

Don’t know that, but. . . the croupier, who is not listed in the credits, looks a little like Jack Colvin [“The Incredible Hulk’s” Lt. Philip Gerard, basically]. Or maybe not. . .

The Royale

I was just going to say that this is what I seem to be remembering.
