Dick was looking a little sickly in the last picture I saw of him. I don’t imagine the family bickering in public is healthy for any of them though.
She also lied about her residency on an application for a fishing license. I’m sure that Wyoming folks see her as a carpetbagger and opportunist after arriving in 2012 and immediately trying for a run at political office. I’m glad she’s done, hopefully for good, as the last thing the country needs is another “family values” asshole in Washington.
Boy, was her face red when Dad reminded her that it was perfectly normal for him to have no pulse.
As a Wyoming resident I can confirm that most everyone sees her as a carpetbagger. Setting up shop in Jackson Hole didn’t help, as Jackson Hole is more of a rich tourist destination and not representative of Wyoming as a whole. I think her willingness to throw her own sister under the bus may have played a role, but not nearly as much as the carpetbagging.
It’s highly unlikely Cheney would have voted differently than Mike Enzi on any issue, but good riddance.
She’s a Cheney, a family predominately populated by assholes. I read that when (former Senator) Alan Simpson sided with Enzi and commented that Cheney’s sudden political ambitions were fracturing the local party, Lynne Cheney told him to shut up. Stay classy, Lynne.
Yeah, the Simpsons are not a family you want to piss off in Wyoming. Al is the elder statesman of politics and very respected by Republicans and Democrats.
Perhaps he was accidentally exposed to sunlight.
Or perhaps was the target of a failed assassination involving garlic.
Just think how high the bar for “serious health issues” must be in the Cheney family. I’m guessing somebody’s head fell off.
Dick’s formerly conjoined feral twin clawed its way out of the man-sized safe and is on the loose.
Al Simpson is sorely missed. The Republicans could use a few dozen like him again.
As for Liz-- is that short for “Lizard”?
I just heard that one of her children has actually had some kind of health crisis. We should probably be careful with the snarkiness.
Her daughter has serious complications from Type I diabetes.
Okay, now I feel bad. In our defense, it is highly unusual for a politician to state the real reason they’re dropping out of a race.
I wish the child well, of course. I’m cynical enough to think that she’d stay in the race if she was ahead in the polls.
The rumor 'round these parts is that her daughter’s diabetes is not life-threatening. No way would she have dropped out if she wasn’t 40 points down in the polls.
So how long before she decides that [del]she really doesn’t care about Wyoming[/del] her daughter can get better treatment in Virginia?
Perhaps not life threatening, but serious enough to require transfer to a hospital in Denver.
We all handle family crises in different ways. John Edwards bravely soldiered on in 2008 despite his wife’s cancer.
Diabetes isn’t the sort of condition that suddenly strikes like a bolt from the blue, which tends to support the suspicion that it’s being invoked as a face-saving rationale.
