What's up with misreading?

Example:

Here at the SDMB I have come across the username mouthbreather dozens of times. About and hour ago I noticed that it was not mouthbreaker as I have been reading it all this time.

Sometimes I’ll read something and have to do a double take because it seems out of place, that’s when I find I’ve misread it.

Do I have some kind of dyslexia?
Does this happen to you?
Am I just reading faster than my brain can translate?

Well, you certainly aren’t the only one. Lookie here, this thread was back in December:

I have never broken a mouth in my life.
And, waxtree, I never read anything wrong.
